Acquired at this past January's Sundance Film Festival is Rodrigo Cortes' Buried, which stars Ryan Reynolds as a U.S. contractor working in Iraq who awakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap. Bloody Disgusting has learned that Lionsgate - who will release the thriller in limited theaters on September 24 before going wide on October 8 - is scheduling some additional photography that will add a bit of story to the "exterior" sequences. Maybe they tested it and felt they could make it even better? Ryan Daley caught the world premiere at Sundance, you can read his review here.
I can positively confirm THE BURIED TEAM IS NOT RESHOOTING ANYTHING.
Lionsgate will release EXACTLY the same editing that was shown in Sundance, SHOT FOR SHOT. There is not any additional photography in progress. Thank God, I must say, since I've seen BURIED twice and I find it a fascinating almost perfect movie.
You should confirm your news before publishing them. Just saying.
