Actually Skilzs3000, the three seers, had one eye and one tooth between them, so I'd classify that as monstrous. And Medusa was supposed to be beautiful still, even transformed, which was part of the bait. And while I am a huge fan of the original film, I'd say that film actually took more liberties than this has. In the several versions of Perseus' story that I have read, it was never really nailed down what exactly was going to kill Andromeda, it just mentioned a sea creature. Also, with the Kraken, it is more of a giant squid/beast than humanoid, so both movies more or less got that wrong, but who cares really? I prefer if they are going to remake it to re-imagine the creatures and make it more their own, so there is no confusion between the two, other than the name. I am looking forward to it. I agree with Strik9 that Harryhausen's Calibos was more ferocious and diabolical looking, but I kind of like both Medusa's for different reasons.
