With just days until 20th Century Fox premieres the first ever footage from Nimrod Antal's Predators - the Robert Rodriguez Troublemaker Studios prequel to the incredible 80's action-horror pic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger - a pair of interviews popped up online that talk about the Predators, along with how the entire cast needed to bulk up for their tough battle on the alien home planet. Predators arrives in theaters July 9.
The first news bite comes from an interview with co-star Alice Braga via MTV where she tells us that she thinks the Predators are "cool".
"[T]he predators, fans, they look really cool! I was really scared. The guys that play them, they're really tall," she explained adding a bit about her character. "She's a girl from special forces. She's a tough cookie. She's a sniper. She jumps into the story and is trying to run for her life, which is classic "Predator" films."
She also talked a but about star Adrien Brody hulking out for is role (as you know, the first film feature a pack of muscle-clad men).
"He was amazing. When we arrived in Hawaii where we first started shooting the film, it was really interesting that he was willing to really get stronger because his body is naturally thin. All of us, we bonded together as a team. We were working out together. He really changed his body, which is great because he challenged himself to do something he hasn't been doing. I think he's done it for some films, but never as an action hero. I think he did a great job. I think people are going to be really impressed with his work."
Speaking of packing on pounds, Walton Goggins chatted with Movieweb about how he's excited that this film doesn't feature weight lifting powerhouses.
"I think the thing that I'm most excited about is our lack of someone that is really big," explained Goggins. "We're all regular guys. Except ... we do have Oleg Taktarov (Righteous Kill) and he will tell you how big he is, multiple times," joked the actor. "But for the most part we are all average builds and I think that gives people an opportunity to see themselves in this movie. At the end of the day I think the thing that I'm most excited about is it's not just an action movie but it's a movie about these characters that hopefully you will grow to love over the course of the story."
As for the look of the actual Predators, Goggins explains that we'll see a mix of different looks.
"I think that you're going to get to see a combination of classic Predators with a modern twist told by very, very competent filmmakers," the actor stated. "I think that the images in this movie are going to rival any other movie in its genre for quite some time," he proclaimed.
Mark your calenders for July 9. Proof is on the screen.
This shit's gonna be cool.I still cant believe that this got greenlit from fox considering its not a fuckin' remake.Too bad more of these franchises out there cant do the same and do prequels or sequels instead of just doin a lame remake.
Dude...I've pointed this out how many times now? Seriously...
PREDATORS
IS
NOT
A
PREQUEL.
It is a sequel. Calling "Predators" a prequel is like calling the last Rambo movie a prequel.
Surely the sequel to the first predator movie was predator 2 with Danny Glover? Prequel or sequel it looks fantastic and i've been waiting for this moment for quite some time.
Calling this a 'reboot' (man, I hate that word) wouldn't really be wrong, since it's theoretically restarting the franchise after 20 years (not counting AVP, of course). But really, who gives a shit what you call it - it's a new Predator movie that doesn't step over the events of the first one, and that's all that matters.
It doesn't really matter if it's a sequel OR a prequel, either way it's a separate story that in no way involves the stories of any other film in the franchise. The studio could say this is sequel or a prequel to either AvP movie, and it STILL wouldn't make any difference.
I dont see how so many of you think this looks good.
I want it to be good...walton goggins, danny trejo and some of the cast is genius.
But Brody looks like the most miscast guy in any movie, EVER. The predators we have seen so far look anorexic, like even kristen stewart could take them (so maybe brody has some hope after all).
I'm not sold on this yet, dont get me wrong, but you guys act like it's been completely amazing when it looks no better than the avp movies so far (I enjoyed those for all you bitchfest whiners).
I want it to get good, I hope it is good, and I think at very least it will be decent with a good cast...but Im not sold on it as the second coming just yet.
looking forward to this, in avp requiem we got a taste of the predator home world.now we get to see everything about them i wonder if they will have alien skulls mounted anywhere.i agree about brody it is very weird casting seeing him as a action hero but who knows he might suprise us,i will admit when i first heard about heath ledger being cast as the joker i didn't think he could do it,but he suprised the shit out of me so brody might bring something very interesting to the table.so far this movie is looking very good so far.can't wait for the trailer.
Very concerned about this line "I think the thing that I'm most excited about is our lack of someone that is really big"....WHY? what are they all 8 stone wimps then?
I have my doubts but until I see a trailer can't really comment. Adrien Brody is a good actor, ok he may not be Arnie or Jesse (and the rest) sized but you never know. Still really excited by this, so I've got me fingers crossed
excited!! Finally not another remake! Plus it's on the Pedator homeworld. Bonus points if we see the xenomoroph in some way or form(skulls would be cool). Im in as well on this one.
I read the script and it's nothing special. I'm a huge Predator fan and this isn't going to be a movie to talk about!
3 Super Predators!?!? WHY???
