Gearing up for the release, Bloody Disgusting and MySpace Horror have been provided with an exclusive look at official trailer for Survival of the Dead, George A. Romero's hotly anticipated new zombie flick premiering on VOD, XBOX Live, Playstation and Amazon on April 30th before taking over theaters on May 28 from Magnet Releasing! The plot involves inhabitants of an isolated island off the North American coast who find their relatives rising from the dead to eat their kin. The leaders of the island feud over whether or not to kill their reanimated relatives or preserve them in hopes of finding a cure. Tell us what you think about the trailer below!
"Immediately following the events of "Diary of the Dead," "Survival of the Dead," is the 6th film from George A. Romero to look at a world where humans are in the minority and the zombies rule.
Off the coast of Delaware sits the cozy Plum Island where two families are locked in a struggle for power, as it has been for generations. The O'Flynn's, headed by patriarch Patrick O'Flynn (Kenneth Welsh) approach the zombie plague with a shoot-to-kill attitude. The Muldoons, headed by Shamus Muldoon (Richard Fitzpatrick), feel that the zombies should be quarantined and kept 'alive,' in hopes that a solution will someday be found.
The O'Flynn's, who are clearly outnumbered, are forced to exile Patrick by boat to the mainland, where he meets up with a cynical band of soldiers, headed by Guardsman Sarge (Alan Van Sprang). They join forces and return to the island, to find that the zombie plague has fully gripped the divided community, and the body count is rising.
As the battle between humans and zombies escalates, the master filmmaker continues to reinvent the modern horror genre with wicked humor and pointed social commentary."
That looks ridiculously terrible...
Although I'll admit the "Can one of you get me more bullets for this gun!" line had me rolling...
Man, Romero peaked early... and I'm one of the few that kinda liked Bruiser.
Wow straight to DVD, there's a shocker... cause the last one, make that 2, weren't that great either, Land of the Dead was pretty ok, poetic even. But Diary sucked. What camera-man sits with a camera while his friend is getting completely mauled by a zombie... Fucking dumb reaction. Give me a fucking break.
Romero needs to make a fresh start and just drop the zombie act! I love the guy as much as anyone else, but this looks just horrible, though I will watch it on VOD to support the medium.
I have agree with the majority on this one. It just looks like a bad, low budget zombie comedy. I'm sure I'll still see it the first chance I get though.
This film looks pants!! Romero is the godfather of the zombie genre but in recent times has made shockingly bads films. Zack Snyder hit the nail on the head with his remake. I love Romero for what he has given us in the past but lets face it alot of his stuff is crap. The Crazies??? Nuff said!

Naff Naff Naff Naff Naff. Seen it all before and so much better. Honestly 28 Weeks Later was the pinnacle of zombies with Robert Carlisle and I'll give a nod to Zack whatshisface for Dawn Remake. Zombies have had their day, neither surprising or scary anymore. Should be ditched now and laid to rest
I don't think it looks all that bad I will give it a try..and not to nit-pick but Klepto4 how do you post on A HORROR site, and not know 28 days/28 weeks ARE NOT zombie movies they are living INFECTED PEOPLE ...They are not dead! Rant over.
I managed to see this movie months ago... and I really wanted to like it! Sadly, I found this film quite boring. I didn't care for the characters, the CG effects looked poor, and the story was weak. I'm not surprised that it has taken this long to get any sort of distribution. If you love zombie films and can see this one for free, watch it... but I wouldn't want to pay to see it.
