Official One Sheet Debut for George A. Romero's 'Survival of the Dead'

"Survival isn't just for the living," is the sweet tagline for Survival of the Dead, George A. Romero's latest zombie flick premiering on VOD, XBOX Live, Playstation and Amazon on April 30th before taking over theaters on May 28 from Magnet Releasing. Gearing up for the release, beyond the break you'll find our exclusive look at official one sheet! The plot involves inhabitants of an isolated island off the North American coast who find their relatives rising from the dead to eat their kin. The leaders of the island feud over whether or not to kill their reanimated relatives or preserve them in hopes of finding a cure. Check out the poster below and tell us what you think about it!

"Immediately following the events of "Diary of the Dead," "Survival of the Dead," is the 6th film from George A. Romero to look at a world where humans are in the minority and the zombies rule.

Off the coast of Delaware sits the cozy Plum Island where two families are locked in a struggle for power, as it has been for generations. The O'Flynn's, headed by patriarch Patrick O'Flynn (Kenneth Welsh) approach the zombie plague with a shoot-to-kill attitude. The Muldoons, headed by Shamus Muldoon (Richard Fitzpatrick), feel that the zombies should be quarantined and kept 'alive,' in hopes that a solution will someday be found.

The O'Flynn's, who are clearly outnumbered, are forced to exile Patrick by boat to the mainland, where he meets up with a cynical band of soldiers, headed by Guardsman Sarge (Alan Van Sprang). They join forces and return to the island, to find that the zombie plague has fully gripped the divided community, and the body count is rising.

As the battle between humans and zombies escalates, the master filmmaker continues to reinvent the modern horror genre with wicked humor and pointed social commentary.

Very cool. Am looking forward to this one, but with the mixed reviews it's been getting I wonder if it really is worth it.

Diary of the Dead was the biggest flop I've ever seen. I actually enjoyed Land of the Dead...Diary on the other hand, was the biggest let down ever. God that movie was horrendous. We'll see I guess.

Diary was a great film because of how it was filmed and how the final outcome worked out.

god damit when will it fucking end, im sick and tired of fuckin george a romereo zombies their so boring and stale and yet ppl slag off a half decent and original franchises like saw or nightmare on elm street. zombies are so fucking lame why do you think 9/10 student films are zombie movie because its low budegt and piss easy to make!! i do agree with u though D3M the style diary was show in was ace,

Haha, whats funny is everyone judging the remakes stating they all have bad acting, then I come in here and see people actually defending Diary of the Dead, stating it was great due to how it was filmed and this and that, (and Land), yet decide to totally not mention how down right HORRID the acting was, in both those films. I love Romero films, always have, but don't try and make it out as something that its not. There good zombie films with good social commentary, but the acting is completely unbelievable. Aside from Night and Dawn, those were ok, because it was still in the 60s and 70s. But now? Romero has built up more then enough of a reputation over the past 40 years to get great actors. I understand his want to keep it sort of maybe lower budget feel to it, who knows, but if the acting in this film is anything like it was in Diary, and judging by the trailer it seems to be, it'll be mediocre at best

Awesome poster! Romero's last couple movies were ify, but enjoyable, he still does zombies right though. Always expect cool zombies, but cg in the last few films...?!? Hopefully this is awesome, unless you're bastardson and want "new age" crap. Obviously he's never read Walking Dead or Day By Day Armageddon or anything decent or he'd know that slow zombies are just as awesome as the fast ones.

And when did we start caring about student films and why it's easy to make zombies on a 5 buck budget? Don't post things on a new Romero movie if you don't like Romero? What's the point?

I enjoyed Diary. Romero cant beat what he has already created, this seems like he is just having fun. Land was a big budget, he needs bigger budget movies.. with really good actors and stuff.

Awesome! I can't wait! I love all of Romero's films. The only thing that I'm a little iffy about is the use of CGI but I know George won't disappoint.

i have to admit i REALLY like this one sheet! it's MUCH better than the 1st one. i look forward to SURVIVAL. i'm not expecting anything amazing but i'm at least expecting some good gore/kills and some fun.

All of Romero's zombie movies are amazing. Some are good, most are great. PS The poster rox.

Romero is such a hack these days really, but that one sheet is amazing. Shame it is probably the only enjoyable thing about this film. I'll wait to really judge when a trailer is released.

I'm agreeing with Bilfy. He's made his masterpieces, let the old man have some fun and quite judging so harshly. Don't expect another Dawn of the Dead and just sit back and enjoy that the bastard's still alive....

Man . . . I am less and less stoked about this movie (or anything else George Romero has done since Land of the Dead or continues to do for that matter). And, I'm a HUGE Romero fan at least from '68 to '00. The trailer looked terrible and this poster looks bad, too. Nostalgic? The Photoshop job and generic font/logo seem to suggest otherwise. I just wish George would, ya know, try something new and stop mining the living dead. Let it rest. Romero, much his zombies, is dead to me.

Naysayers may nay all they wish, I still wait with anticipation for George's next chapter!

See, Romero started to go downhill for me when he had zombies think. Thats a line you don't cross with zombies. Their dead, they don't make decisions other then to eat you. Simple

i don't care what critics say, they all pan these type of movies anyway... and as for the acting comments left here, i'd rather watch a george romero flick instead of a Hollywood big budget piece of shit designed to make their leading man (usually a pansy like Cruise or Cage) look tough as nails, all the while pretending that their 40 year old female lead is really in her 20's.

StatutoryApe

Hey Adrian, you don't fuck with Cage: http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/images/msg_nicbird.jpg

From the clips that I saw, this will be awful. The one sheet really isn't anything special either. Not when you compare it to the posters for Dawn or Day.
