I am furious over this contest. Becuase of this "awards" thingamajig I ended up finding out about an assload of great horror blogs I might not have otherwise, and as a result, I've got too many sites to read everyday and not enough time to work on All Things Horror. Damn you to hell bloody disgusting. And congrats to the weiners.

Great way to get another audience to check out the horror blogosphere. Horror fans, there are other horror sites out there aside from the big ones...so visit all these awesome blogs! (including mine!)

While Final Girl is a worthy blog and one that has been around a while I have to be honest I do not know anything about the other two. I checked them out since the names seem to popping up all over awards recently, DBH even being nominated for a Rondo, and was surprised about something both blogs have in common. Neither blog is older than Oct of 2009. The archives for DBH go back to Nov of 2009 and the archives for FOTD go back to Oct of 2009. I did notice here that both blogs spiked to about 10% right before voting closed what ever that implies. They are not necessarily horrible blogs but far, far, far from the best on this list, and some great blogs never even made it here. Personally I see these awards as most likely manipulated by shenanigans any more and agree with some other bloggers I have read recently that it may be best to discount them entirely. There is no way two blogs no older than Oct of 2009 have earned genuine respect over sites like Vault of Horror, Zombo's Closet, Frankenstenia Lightening Bugg's Lair or Kindertrauma. Congrats to Stacie Ponder of Final Girl since she genuinely deserves it.

DBH pandered for votes like it was going out of style. How she got nominated for a Rondo is beyond me. Her content is trash.

Stacie has an awesome blog, she's definitely one of the most talented writers out there, not just in horror. I don't think these awards are good for the horror community though. I had to upload a lot of slutty pictures, and sleep with a lot of readers just to get nominated, you don't want to know how far I went to get votes. Let's just all enjoy movies, and talk about them. Fuck all this award noise.

I am going to augment my last comment a tad. I am too old and have been around the block too much to attack Rhonda's blog (I know her name now). I saw on her site she is being attacked by some other female blogger and to be honest I did not know about her or her blog until these awards for which I was not nominated. Whether Rhonda or any particular person deserves to win or not is not really something I should worry about. I cast my vote and my horse lost but I think it is best, for me anyway, to not worry about it. The awards systems for blogs are certainly flawed but I do not want to lose site of something: blogging (horror-movie blogging) is for fun and maybe some sort of online community. I do not want to be some 51 year old grump who is pissed because the new kid on the block is getting all the spotlight for now.
