SXSW '10: Infected Zone Fills Map in First Ever 'Monsters' Image

In a very District 9-esque thriller, Gareth Edwards' UK genre pic Monsters begins six years after a NASA probe crashes, bringing alien life forms to Earth, a journalist agrees to escort a shaken tourist through an infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border. The question is, what type of infected will we see? Playing at SXSW in Austin, TX next month, nothing else was available during the official announcement. Bloody Disgusting has just now landed the first ever image that teases one hell of an infected zone. Dig on it below. Vertigo will distribute in the UK, no word on a U.S. release yet.

I'll wait to see more, but reeks of DISTRICT 9. That was an awesome movie. If they can pull it off without thinking about D9, then I'm interested !
