The Asylum Officially Announces 'Megapiranha'

The Asylum has officially announced Megapiranha for release on April 27, 2010. In the film written and directed by Eric Forsberg, a mutant strain of giant ferocious piranha escape from the Amazon and eat their way toward Florida. Widescreen Presentation, 5.1 Surround Sound, with a Making of Featurette included. Click here for a ton of stills.

I'll be the first to comment, since I love the good folks at The Asylum. This looks as ridiculous as it is derivative... and that's exactly what these guys are going for. Only fitting that this "mockbuster" is a rip-off of a remake of a knock-off of JAWS that was made by the guy who practically invented this kind of opportunistic filmmaking. Forget Coppola, Demme, etc. This is the spirit of Roger Corman!
