Back in December it was rumored that X-Men star Hugh Jackman was in heavy talks to join the cast of Antoine Fuqua's (Training Day) latest pic, Prisoners, which also saw Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe all considered for roles. With the start date weeks away, the production has officially been delayed, reports the Valley Independent Sentinel. The implied reason is that Warner Bros. Pictures has yet to lock down the star -- meaning Jackman might not be toplining. Expect an announcement next week. Aaron Guzikowski's dark tale centers on a small-town man who, after his daughter and her friend are kidnapped and the cops fail to solve the crime, takes matters into his own hands, holding hostage the person he suspects committed the crime (sounds very similar to the Sundance title 7 Days).
Fuqua is leaving the project to shoot Jonathan Lemkin's new thriller. He and Lemkin did SHOOTER together a couple years back.
Prisoners will not roll till 2011 and if even then. The script has massive problems and is a blatant rip-off of Taken. That's the reason the talent has walked and the writer left WME.
Okay, Alphonso...This script is NOTHING like TAKEN, not at all whatsoever...it's a tight little thriller with two fantastically drawn characters in the two male leads. Personally, I'd think that Ethan Hawke would be an excellent casting choice, along with Ryan Gosling...where they get Jackman is beyond me.
Comparing this to Taken is a enormous disservice and I suggest you read the script.
YO MR. D, THAT LEGION THING YOU GOT GOING ON IS SLOWING DOWN YOUR SITE!!!
