'The Thing' Prequel Begins Lensing This March

After years and years of development and speculation, Universal Pictures' prequel to John Carpenter's classic thriller The Thing is due to begin filming March and continue till June in Toronto, reports Production Weekly. Unless there have been top secret changes behind the curtain, Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. will be directing from a screenplay by Ronald D. Moore and Eric Heisserer (A Nightmare on Elm Street). Moore's script takes place from the Norwegian camps point of view. An American scientific expedition to the frozen wastes of the Antarctic is interrupted by a group of seemingly mad Norwegians pursuing and shooting a dog. The helicopter pursuing the dog crashes leaving no explanation for the chase. During the night, the dog mutates and attacks other dogs in the cage and members of the team that investigate. The team soon realize that an alien life-form with the ability to take over bodies is on the loose and they don't know who may already have been taken over. No word on how much was changed by Heisserer.

This is one I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. This is an automatic failure. Nothing can touch Carpenter's masterpiece. Bad bad idea... No original scripts, just recycled bullshit for the most part.

Most pointless prequel idea ever.

No shit!! I think this prequel is gonna be a worthless piece of shit. No one could ever mastered John Carpenter's 1982 sci-fi horror classic The Thing. I wouldnt see it unless they have a better original script and not copying off of John Carpenter's The Thing.

I forgot to mention sounds like a another fucking remake!! I want The Thing 2 like bloodycape said! Not a damn prequel or remake whatever the hell this piece of shit they're pulling out of their asses in hollywood.

I have just lost all faith in Hollywood, fuck, Humanity in general. You want something done right? Have Carpenter write it.

Boy oh boy... how quickly everyone forgets that John Carpenter's The Thing is actually a remake!!! It's gonna be tough to top one of the best.

yeah, a sequel would have been the way to go. You know they all die, what's the point? a sequel could have been about a rescue team, or it could have been just straight up end of the world shit, with everyone being infected and turning in to creatures, or it could have been on a submarine like that one comic sequel, and ANY OF THOSE would have been more interesting.

I guess The Thing had a bad childhood with being bullied, a stripper mom and a skullfucking stepfather...

Rather have a sequel. Who cares about the Norweiegens?

Carpenter's The Thing was NOT a remake. It was a more faithful adaptation of the original story Who Goes There?
