Troma Brings ‘Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead’ to HD

Published

After grossing the highest per-theater average in the nation on its opening weekend and playing in 300 American cinemas, Troma’s latest theatrical hit is going high-def. Troma Entertainment announced today that it will enter the Blu-ray market with the February 23 release of Lloyd Kaufman’s POULTRYGEIST: NIGHT OF THE CHICKEN DEAD. Troma’s most critically-acclaimed film of the decade, POULTRYGEIST will be the first in Troma’s new line of special edition Blu-ray discs, with a new Blu-ray to follow every month!
Shot and screened on 35mm, the film blends the feather ruffling politics of FAST FOOD NATION, the satire of SHAUN OF THE DEAD, and the show-stopping musical numbers of THE TOXIC AVENGER: THE MUSICAL to skewer the fast food industry, limousine liberals, and almost everyone else in American society.

An homage to true grindhouse horror with Rogers and Hart caliber musical numbers, POULTRYGEIST has been hailed as “a masterpiece!” (Ain’t It Cool News) “Without a doubt, the best film Troma’s ever produced (Jason Pollack, C.H.U.D.). Variety exclaims, “It’s a veritable Cluckwork Orange!” Director Lloyd Kaufman, who has been credited with inventing the “slapstick gore” movie in 1985 with THE TOXIC AVENGER, continues his visionary body of work with this “fowl movement.”

POULTRYGEIST continues Troma Entertainment’s long history of cinematic political activism,” says Kaufman, who is also the co-founder of Troma Entertainment. “Big Media puts the Kool-Aid in the water and brainwashes the public to line up at fast food joints like obese, artery clogged zombies… except in our film it’s chicken-Indian zombies. The American Indians were exterminated and so are billions of innocent chickens! The zombie is a perfect metaphor.

Highlights from the Blu-ray include as follows: new commentary tracks by stars Jason Yachanin and Kate Graham, a commentary track by director Lloyd Kaufman and writer/editor Gabriel Friedman, Poultry in Motion: Truth is Stranger than Chicken, a hilarious and unflinching feature-length behind-the-scenes documentary, the short film Chicken Ass, Ron Jeremy’s alternate “happy ending,” and much more.

Levicitus Digital release

After releasing in theaters last month, NEON announced today that horror romance Leviticus will arrive on digital platforms to rent or own beginning July 28, followed by a Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD Combo and DVD release on September 8, 2026.

Leviticus marks the feature debut by writer/director Adrian Chiarella.

Joe Bird (Talk to Me) and Stacy Clausen play star-crossed teenage boys who must escape a violent entity that takes the form of the person they desire most — each other.

Mia Wasikowska (Crimson Peak), Jeremy BlewittEwen Leslie (The Nightingale), and Davida McKenzie (Silent Night) round out the cast of horror movie Leviticus.

Leviticus is a strong debut with an incisive voice at the helm,” I wrote in my review out of Sundance. “We care deeply about Naim and Ryan’s survival, making Leviticus a tense, atmospheric, and claustrophobic vision of young love in a hateful world.”

Leviticus is the perfect title for writer-director Adrian Chiarella‘s powerful feature debut,” Meagan’s review explains, “a searing anthem against the corrosive nature of fear and bigotry.”

The physical media release comes packed with exclusive bonus features, the home entertainment release includes a feature commentary with Adrian Chiarella, interviews with Chiarella, Stacy Clausen, and Joe Bird, an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette, and the official trailer.

Look for Leviticus on Digital next week, and check out the box art for September’s Blu-ray release this September.
