For those of you worried that Universal Pictures' The Wolfman would take the path of the less righteous aiming at a PG-13, fear not as the Benicio del Toro starrer has been beefed up with R-rating for "bloody horror, violence and gore." Be ready: February 12, 2010. Like the 1941 original that starred Lon Chaney Jr., new pic will be set in Victorian England. Del Toro will play a man who returns from America to his ancestral homeland, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence.
I think this movie will be great despite all the trouble its had.Due to the look of it,I'm hoping this movie will have a similar feel to Francis Ford's"Dracula".
I think it'll be great, unfortunately, I dont see it doing great at the box office. It's really a shame that "Hannah Montana" movie can do so well, and a quality movie will get left in the dust.
Wow ... looks like it might be pretty good. STRIK9, I had similar thoughts while watching the clip. Reminds me of a cross between Bram Stoker's Dracula and An American Werewolf in London. And I LOVE that it's R-rated! Whatever money it loses in the theater release due to the R-rating will be made up for hopefully with DVD/Blu-ray sales later on.
It's about damn time we had a good werewolf flick. >Wolf> with Nicholson didn't quite suck, but it didn't make it either. <Van Helsing> sucked pretty much, ditto for <Underworld.> Hopkins did great in Coppola's version of Dracula, he brings a lot to the table. But Del Toro! Classic! I CAN'T WAIT!
nohandtyper, have you seen the hannah montana movie? I doubt you have. Its actually good. Anyway, back on topic, THIS DOES LOOKS EPIC!! Reminds me of the Bram Stokers Dracula from a decade ago too. I hope it retains some of the horror and romantic elements from that movie. The vibe is so modern macarbe but genuine. Can't wait!
I'm surprised the movie will go "R"...but I'm glad.
They WILL lose a little money by passing on a PG-13...or maybe they won't.
None of US really like PG-13, do we?
If it's good...go see it twice...help it out.
No,I'm not working for Universal...!lol
Universal is doing it right! YES! I think they finally understand what people want concerning those Monsters. They need to be scary and not campy. Thank you for caring Universal. I am very excited to see what you do with my favorite horror film characters of all time. This will be GREAT!!!!
Its about time Hollywood got some balls and released a movie with some guts. This is a film meant to be viewed by an adult audience while fitting a particular horror genre. A R-rating will only enhance ticket sales due to this, IMHO.
I only hope this movie turns out to be as good as it should and would be quite surprised if it doesnt.
It's good to hear they're not going to hold back with this one! If it turns out to be bloody enough for the BBFC to rate it 18, I'll definitely be old enough for it by the time it's released where I live
My excitement for this increased by about a thousand percent. I knew this would be pretty good just because of the cast but this might be one of the best films of 2010. Glad to see Universal go all out on this one. Thank god at least one studio has the balls to go R these days unlike Screen Gems with that Stepfather shit.
