Is There Hope for Rob Zombie's 'Tyrannosaurus Rex'?

In a new interview with the Chicago Tribune, shock rocker-turned-director Rob Zombie revealed that he doesn't want his next film to be horror. "If you go down that road too far, it's hard to break out of it," said Zombie backstage at the Aragon Ballroom before his Sunday show. "I don't want to get stuck with anything. I want the freedom to do what I want to do." One of his passion projects has been the long-gestured Tyrannosaurus Rex, a screenplay written by Zombie that the Weinstein Company used as collateral to get him to direct Halloween II. Hopefully a studio will get behind the action-thriller so Zombie can bring it to life. Word is that the script is quite entertaining.

Looking forward to it. I for one have enjoyed his movies, some more than others. I like the look and feel even when I'm not thrilled by the story. I think he's relatively new and is slowly evolving. What I like most is he's passionate about his subject material.

I really like House of 1000 corpses and i completely love The Devil's Rejects and The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto...don't really care 'bout his halloween efforts. ------------------------------------------ This looks amazing, gritty, violent, just great! But is this going to be animated or live action?!?¿?

I'm really curious about his The Blob, but I want to see this so much more.

Screw you, SK6000. I hate RZ because of his remakes. I like House of 1000 Corpses and the Devil's REjects. I still want to watch El Superbeasto. I have know idea what this movie is about but the poster is amazing. It reminds me of those old exploitation posters. Is the blonde chick his wife again?

If this actually gets made, I bet this will win back fans that Rob has lost over the Halloweens.

Rob, Do Not Put Your Wife In This. If she was any good she would have gotten other work besides yours by now.

i hope this come to fruition! i'm so sick of all the Zombie bashing that i will support this (and all his future movies too) movie, unconditionally. i LOVE "H2" and really like H1. Zombie (and Sheri too!) but i don't see the near bankrupt Weinsteins doing anything other than SCREAM sequels. Rob has already stated that he is HAPPY to be moving on from the Weinsteins (which most directors seem to be happy to be away from them).

The poster is pretty awesome. Hopefully this will get made as well as his take on the Blob.

dude just do T-Rex then blob real quick and make sure to get Shawnee smith in there if she wants in. tell your wife she needs to expand who she works with directorial and do you man

I'm not sure what the whole premise is for T-REX, but it does sound like a fun Grindhouse 70's style that a guy like Tarantino would do. MACHETE and T-REX would be a cool double bill, don't ya think ?

Sounds sweet. And as for another Grindhouse double feature it needs to be Machete and Thanksgiving and then a double feature of Don't and T-Rex

Man I really want to see his take on "The Blob" next as some of us have been waiting for a remake of that one for years now! This does look/sound rather awesome too though.

Let RZ do what he wants to do! Shawnee Smith is a YES!

He makes good films. Halloween was a passable movie in my book and part 2 was a good movie (i'm one of the 5 people who actually liked it BTW) but it didn't feel like Michael Myers, it felt like he was a 7' foot freak copycat killer.

Zombie is cool, anything he puts out is usually cool.

T rex sounds and looks a lot like steve niles the nail comic from a couple years back. That was horror laden stuff. Super beasto was great, much better than i expected it to be. Make more cartoons rob! Something for adult swim perhaps? Hell i'd love see his take on giant monsters as well!

Do it, Rob! I'm sure fans would love to see something with a Devils Rejects feel again!

i think he has the capability to pull this off well. it seems to have a devil's rejects gritty grind feel which is good and an ode to his best work. unfortunately from seeing that blond i can tell he wants to squeeze his untalented wife into this movie like all of his others which makes me sad.

SpikeGhost

i hope it's gonna be really violent :P but from the picture it looks like Sherri-Moon Zombie is gonna be in this one too

Well this might turn out somewhat like The Devils Rejects, which is a very good thing, I loved that movie.

Quit your whining. People bash the guy because he is a horrible film-maker. He always has white-trash overtones in his films and they are poorly written. There is a reason for people not caring for the guy. He's one step away from being Uwe Boll. I'm not being an ass, it's just a fact. The guy should just stick with music, preferably White Zombie. It's the best thing the guy has ever been involved in honestly.

I prefer the Blob remake
