'Paranormal Activity' Coming to DVD/Blu-ray This December?!

In a shocking turn of events, Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing Paranormal Activity on DVD and Blu-ray December 29, not even three months after the film began its limited theatrical run. As previously mentioned, the only said extras will be an uncut edition with an alternate ending (not sure which one). Check out the art for both the DVD and Blu-ray, along with the official release below.

The “truly scary” (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times), edge-of-your-seat horror film PARANORMAL ACTIVITY will make its presence known on DVD and two-disc Blu-ray December 29, 2009 from Paramount Home Entertainment. Hailed as “a horror phenomenon” (Richard Corliss, Time) and “one of the scariest movies of all time” (BloodyDisgusting.com) the hypnotic and harrowing film drove filmgoers to demand that it play in their cities, ultimately earning over $100 million at the domestic box office. Loaded with suspense and punctuated by moments of sudden and unexpected horror right up to the shocking ending, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY is more frightening to watch at home, even with the lights on.

Written and directed by Oren Peli, the intense and chilling story follows a young, middle-class couple who become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be demonic, but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially while they sleep. The DVD and two-disc Blu-ray include the original theatrical version of the film, plus an unrated version with a shocking alternate ending not seen in theaters. The Blu-ray also includes a digital copy of the theatrical version.

The PARANORMAL ACTIVITY DVD is presented in widescreen enhanced for 16:9 televisions with Dolby Digital English 5.1 Surround and Spanish 5.1 Surround (theatrical version only) and English, French and Spanish subtitles. The two-disc Blu-ray is presented in 1080p high definition with English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital (theatrical version only) and English, English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles. Special features include:
o Unrated version with alternate ending not seen in theaters
o Digital copy of theatrical version (Blu-ray only)

WTF??? ONE alternate ending??? Weren't there, like, THREE??? Probably pass on this one and just download the ending I liked. I WILL NOT pay for the crap-ass theatrical ending. (And unrated? What's to show? Seriously. Come on.)

well, i loved this movie and know a TON of people who did not see it so i will be buying the DVD regardless. IF they were smart they would put all three endings on this DVD. The theatrical ending was GREAT, the "cop" ending was horrible, but people will wanna see it. and the "throat cut" ending is impossible to find, seeing that ending finally would make this DVD a HUGE seller. if they do all three endings the DVD will make a TON of money, but if your gonna sell in DEC 29th why not move it up a bit and sell it rite before X-MAS, smarter business decision

They'll just wait 6 months then put out a special edition version with all the endings so you have to buy that one too. Damn those rich ass holes.

Does is still feature the original theatrical version as well, though? Call me a sadist, but I liked the theatrical cut more.

expected major dud with the overdone shaky cam style of filming but was blown away by how well everything was executed and how crazy scary the film turned out to be a must own film
