Bloody Disgusting learned today that casting has officially begun for Death Race: Frankenstein Lives, the sequel to the Paul W.S. Anderson directed remake that hit theaters last August. Anderson won't return to direct and there is still nobody at the helm. Penned by Tony Giglio, here's the logline: "Produced by Paul W.S. Anderson, Jeremy Bolt and Mike Elliott, newly arrived at Terminal Island, a prison for the most unredeemable of convicts, Carl 'Luke' Lucas must prove his mettle in a race to the death." Shooting begins next February. We'll let you know when official casting news comes in. Jason Statham will not be returning.

I actually liked the remake...it was a great dumb action movie with a little bit of nice. gore "Well one scene anyway" This movie should not however have had ANYTHING to do with with Death Race. Story wise it has nothing to do with it anyway. It's closer to Twisted Metal: The Movie then Death Race. But one might could see where that might be slightly entertaining in a "I wanna watch shit blow up" kinda way.

I did not care for this remake. Your right FLESH TRAP 666, this had nothing to do with the original premise which in my opinion made this just a big dumb Jason Statham action movie. Should have been a different title and left DEATH RACE alone.

Lame title but we'll see

The remake was good but the Original was far superior.A sequel is bad idea but you never know could be good!

Ugh, I got excited for a minute thinking this might somehow be a long-awaited sequel to the original (obviously without David Carradine). The remake was pretty much like watching my ex-boyfriend play x-box.

The remake was passable action fare (re: a typical Jason Statham movie), but I have to ask - how bad is the script for the sequel that Statham won't do it? After all, this is the guy who signed on for CRANK 2, one of the biggest steaming shitpiles ever laid on the unsuspecting moviegoing public! If he'll do that colon-churning abomination but won't do a DEATH RACE sequel, the latter must not show much promise.

another juk ass sequel with the same story as the first probably with a suck ass cast. Skipping it. Why is this action movie being covered by a horror site again?

I agree this website shouldnt be covering this at all, it's not a horror movie and Jason Statham should be in this in some way. This will be a rental, something to watch on a rainy day when nothing is on TV

They will never come close to matching Paul Bartel's original Death Race 2000. And who could replace Carradine? No one. This remake should have been left at the starting gate.

wow....this is not going to end well since first off Paul isnt directing it and second....NO JASON....its gonna suck, Paul, while not being an amazing director brought the action to the movie, and Jason was just awesome, I bet this is going to be a direct to dvd film....but we shall see =/
