As the nationwide phenomenon Paranormal Activity makes its way to the $100 million mark at the box office, Paramount Pictures is taking fan appreciation to new heights by giving back to the legion of moviegoers who helped to make the $15,000 movie a hit by featuring their names in the credits of the film’s DVD and Blu-ray editions.
“The success of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY would not have been possible without the million-plus fans who went to the ParanormalMovie.com official website and demanded the movie in their home town,” says Amy Powell, Senior Vice President, Interactive Marketing, Paramount Pictures. “They demanded the movie and they got it. So now we are giving them credit where credit is due.”
To continue to be part of the phenomenon and have your name listed in the DVD and Blu-ray credits for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY register your name at http://www.ParanormalActivityProject.com before Monday, November 9, 2009 at 12 PM PST. The DVD and Blu-ray release date for the movie will be announced shortly.
In PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, after a young, middle class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban “starter” tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be demonic, but is certainly most active in the middle of the night.
Especially when they sleep. Or try to.
Directed, written and produced by Oren Peli, the innovative thriller stars Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat. The film was produced by Jason Blum. Steven Schneider served as executive producer.

If they can't put all 1,000,000 names on the DVD (which they obviously can't), why just pick and choose? Another publicity stunt, that's what. This movie was great and terrifying, but come one. First a sequel, and now this...?
the movie looks whack ughh
im still waiting for..
Piranha 3D (2010)
Night of the Demons (2010)
Jeepers Creepers 3 (2010)
Scream 4 (2010)
The Scarecrow (2011)
It's not a first. I've done this already with every supporter of my film from the website formally known as gottabet out of the UK. I do agree that this is a great thing to do, of course.
Being appreciative of the fans that make your film worth you having done it is a very intelligent thing. It shouldn't be seen as a gimmick.
I can not believe they actually give a shit about a single person that saw the movie, this is a publicity stunt and nothing more to get attention for the dvd release. Kevin smiths idea of putting all his myspace friends in the credits of clerks 2 was more geniune as he didnt announce, just like 5 freakin minutes of 8 collumn names appeared in the credits.
You guys are fucking retarded, Gargus, what the fuck makes you think its a publicity stunt? The goddamn DVD isn't even going to be out for months, so why announce it now if its to get everyones attention on the DVD? So what, they wanna put some fans names in the credits, who gives a shit, if they wanna do it cool, if they dont include everyones name in it again, who gives a fuck. The fact they put in even some of the people who demanded it is a pretty cool gesture
I can't believe how cynical and aggressive people are on here. I don't even understand why you're all getting so worked up over this. Where's the problem?
LOL...yes, it IS a publicity stunt, just like everything else surrounding the movie has been. READ THE FINE PRINT. You are automatically signed up to receive email updates regarding the DVD release. It's just a way to spam us with studio updates. "Demand it now!"
What movie doesn't rely on marketing stunts? There's so much competition out there they have to get your attention somehow. Just be thankful it's not a remake!
Precisely as stated just above...every film has to have an angle to get it seen. Every film needs to be seen so that it may sell. In most cases, the sales figures directly affect the cost of the next budget. In these specific filmmaker's case, they are banking enough for a full slate of films to come in the next 5 to 10 years, and knowing that they prefer originality, suspense, psychological scares and solid character developement, I think we should all have a great appreciation for what they'll be bringing to us in the future.
Also, knowing very well how the film business is, it's good to see the little guys getting rewarded so well.
This is brilliant. All the millions of people who put their name on this list will obviously want to buy the DVD to see their name. Meaning the largest grossing movie ever will just gross millions more.
I think its a great idea to put our names in the credits who demanded it! If it weren't for all of us who did demand it, it wouldn't be as big as it is. In addition, I think its a great way of saying thank you!
