First Ever 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' Review
Monday, November 2, 2009

Apparently, Warner Bros. Pictures held the first ever test screening for their forthcoming A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot, which arrives in theaters April 30, 2010. The boys over at AICN are hosting the review, which is mixed, but offers hope for the finished product. Chime in with your thoughts below. The films' premise centers on Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams.

I was willing to give PD another chance. I've been optimistic about this movie, until now. This sounds bloody awful. A PG-13 Krueger meets The OC. Even if the test screening was a 'work in progress' if it was good the reviewer would have said so. I now have no hope for this.

No Johnny Depp bed scene, no phone tongue and a bunch of 30 year olds playing school kids, badly!!! Whats the fucking point?!?! Murdering my favourite movie just for a payday!!

If, like me your an 80's child, then chances are Freddy, Jason and Michael are like heroes to you and in the space of about 4 years they have all been shit on - RZ, Nispel, PD, MB should all be fed to the firing squad. Bunch of C**ts - sorry but need to vent my anger!!!

Vent your anger Bumper1. I'm pissed off too. In a few days time expect the obligatory 'Brad Fuller Has Updated His PD Blog' story to hit where the douche trys to explain it's not the finished version blah blah blah. Another fail from this woeful studio.

Even with low hopes to begin with, this sounds even worse than we could imagine. I don't think they have to replicate every scene from the original, since I prefer something different, but it's sounds like they have nothing good to replace the good scenes from the original. And the possibility of a PG-13? Fuck you Platinum Dunes for even giving the thought of that!

Sounds horrible...really pissed off at this..was hoping they would at least do justice to Freddy, what a bunch of incompetent losers

Uh Oh. Just like every other PD flick since TCM. They are gonna destroy this film. Shit. PG-13 are u fucking kidding.? I was always against this film but the trailer looked good. On the plus side JEH might be good even though I thought he was the wrong choice.

i knew it! that it owould be a bad review and many more to come! like i said before it will bomb just like how friday the 13th remake did after the first week. everyone will be all scared to see it blah blah blah "sooooo scared ooooooo" this is the vbest horror movie eecer (which would be bull bc the original is almost always better)then FAIL!

He never said anything about PD wanting it to be PG-13, fuller already said it was going to be rated R. so you can all just drop that right now.

maybe it's just me, but it says "the remake keeps many of the scenes from the original script", so don't write off the movie just yet! LOL. also regarding the "30 something" high schoolers, the ONLY one that i've seen in the trailer that admittedly doesn't look to be in high school is Katie Cassidy (but she's awesome and a great actress so it's ok!). remember 80's movies when "teens" were like in their late 20's and early 30's (or looked it! LOL.) i LOVE Jamie Lee Curtis but she looked about 28 in HALLOWEEN. just sayin'. if they make this PG-13 (and that is the reviewers "pulling that out of your ass" assumption!) it will be a VERY BAD thing and will do further damage with the relationship between the horror community and Platinum Dunes. i really don't think they will (fingers crossed!).

All I hear every time they remake these movies is..."Wahhhhh, Wahhhhhh they're raping my childhood, the movies I love are now ruined, whatever am I going to do now!!! Wahhhhh, Wahhhhh." I get so sick of it. So they made a movie about Freddy Kruegar and fucked it up. Do you have any idea how many bad Dracula movies there are? I would be willing to bet that this "shitty" remake is still better than any Nightmare film since Dream Warriors. I'm not saying I'm gonna like it, but for christ's sake if it sucks then don't watch it, or don't go. I have and idea. On the night this opens, instead of attending the movie crack open your copy of the original A Nightmare on Elm Street and watch that instead. That way you can be satisfied and won't have to "waste your time" on this movie, and for god sake stop acting like these characters are sacred lambs that can't be reinterpreted or reinvented. I once saw Frankenstein's monster do a softshoe routine with his creator on stage with them both singing "Putting on the Ritz"...True Story!!!

I really hope they make this film worth watching I don't want to hate it. I didn't like the Friday the 13th remake that much at first, but I love it now, it really grew on me big time and I consider it to be one of the best of the entire series actually.

What the fuck is this guy talking about the teens being played by 30 year olds? none of the kids are above 24.

Scream110
10:34am, November 2, 2009

TomJarvis, just because there are many terricle Dracula movies doesn't mean that it's simply okay for Platinum Dunes remake of Elm Street to be as shitty. That's just lazy filmmaking, and you're being arrogant.

atleast this film doesn't come out for another 6 months so they could reshoot some stuff

KANDYKAIN
10:44am, November 2, 2009

Okay, the movie has yet to be released and everyone is having a heart attack. One bad review and everyone gives up. Then in that case don't see the fucking movie when it comes out. Why judge a movie when it's due to be released in 4 months. I'm not taking this review seriously. And normally when there's a test screening and audience dislike it, the producer's end up doing reshoots and I doubt they would released this in a PG-13 RATING.

if this ends up being PG-13 I will definitely be very dissappointed and not end up checking it out
