Bloody Disgusting learned exclusively that production officially begins this Monday on I Spit on Your Grave, a remake of Meir Zarchi's classic 1978 film Day of the Woman. We also learned that Steven R. Monroe (Left in Darkness) will be getting behind the camera for the remake that will star Andrew Howard, best known among genre fans for his roles in Adam Mason's The Devil's Chair, Luster and Blood River. In the original, a woman is abducted, brutally attacked and raped and then left for dead. She survives, hunts her attackers and dispatches them in graphic ways.

I always had mixed feeling about this movie. I loved the revenge scenes, but always found the drawn out rape scene to be tough to get through. I wonder if they are going to soften it up a bit as happened with "Last House on the Left" Sort of a tough flick to lighten up though. But please leave the revenge on the rapists scene extremely violent and gory, let them get what's coming to them ;)

Sidenote, one of my favourite movie titles hands down. I wasn't even born when the original came out, so looking forward to seeing "I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE" in the marquee lights!!!

I agree with nikolaibossman, in order for it to work they have to leave the revenge on the rapists scene extremely violent and gory, let them get what's coming to them.

Why in the world would anyone want to stamp their name on remaking this disturbing film. I believe Steven R. Monroe may have some issues. I will go out on a limb and say this movie will not fair very well. This genre has a very small audience.

I have a bad feeling about this one. It will probably go direct to disc so what's the point on making it really!?

This is a rough movie to be wanting to remake...that is if it comes out in theatres. I mean grant it, it just might be one of the best revenge movies ever made, but with what you could do nowadays I think the only thing you can do is make it worse (meaning more gory, violent and repulsive). Very mixed, unsettling feelings about this movie.

I don't know what it exactly says about me, but "I Spit on Your Grave" is one of my absolute favorites of the genre! And I really can't comprehend how a remake would expand on this subject matter in a worthwhile manner...I mean, Meir Zarchi's work is of the rape/revenge 70s genre. Modern conventions of horror have changed a bit.

Of all the pointless remakes being made, this one has to be at the top of the list.

This movie will bomb, as someone noted I cant see a lot of people crashing down the doors to see this. I mean the original is a great flick, disturbing but great. A remake has to be NC-17 for it to even be remotely good due to its subject matter.

I did not know that ISOYG was being considered, but not surprised with the remake craze. I'm all for it if it's a good script and keep it hardcore. LAST HOUSE was a decent remake, but they did tone it down a bit. I hope they keep the graphic detail intact. As brutal as the rape scene was, her revenge was even better so it evened out.

if this was being done by the folks who did THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake (AMAZING!!), then i'd be fine with it. but i guess we'll see how this turns out. you never know, it coud turn out to be a great remake like LAST HOUSE was.

fucking why... you can't remake this movie. Never ever. There's no way they can make it brutal like the old one was. COme on there was a fuckin 15 min rape scene then another 5 min one. Nobody in their right mind can pull that off. But I have to say something. The last house on the left remake was amazing and 10 times better then cravens old one. I thought so. SO IDK

THE ORIGINAL FILM WAS TRASH ... I DONT THINK THE REMAKE IS GONNA MAKE IT ANY BETTER.

i think itl get banned in the uk just like the original did at first but u can get it now tho i have seen the original the rape scene is horrible but i think if they do and i think they need to and they know that need to soften it up itl work so i think i will give this one a go

This movie will probably be some low budget piece of crap. Didn't even know they had plans to remake it.

the last house on the left remake was decent. nothing extraordinary but decent. hope the same for this

Here we go once again! The only person I know who might do the disturbong nature of this film justice is, that's right, Rob Zombie. This is ludicris. The rape scene is why this movie is a classic of the genre-like it or not. They will make a torure porn movie and concentrate solely on the revenge aspect. Bad bad idea.

By the way, the remake of Last House was okay but did not come remotely close to the rawness of the original classic. Again, the brutality of the original is why it is a classic. The girl being shot in the river is deep on so many levels. She is a martyr. It is beautiful, sublime and deeply moving.

never seen the original, but sick of the remakes...and i highly doubt that they will keep it how the original is. they will prob tone it down ALOT......stupid remakes
