Let's just hang on one second here. Paranormal Activity was just recently released nation-wide. Considering that this movie as already been filmed and is on its way to being released, how could they rip it off completely? The makers probably heard how scary Paranormal Activity was back when it was first shown in 2007, and decided to make a..."companion"? I think it'll be worth checking out.

Paramount should buy the rights and here's the sequel they want.
