During a new interview with UK Magazine Empire, Ridley Scott talked a bit about the forthcoming Alien prequel being developed over at 20th Century Fox. “It’s a brand new box of tricks,” said Scott. “We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior.” The film is set up to be a prequel to the groundbreaking 1979 film that Scott directed. It will precede that film, in which the crew of a commercial towing ship returning to Earth is awakened and sent to respond to a distress signal from a nearby planetoid. The crew discovers too late that the signal generated by an empty ship was meant to warn them.
It sucks that Paul W.S. Anderson won't be directing this film. After the theatrical success and downright AWESOMENESS of that PG-13 waterdowned version of AVP, he deserves...fuck that, he should INHERIT the right to do this prequel/reimaginationing.
I can't wait to see where this new idea takes us. I can't see this being just about the alien crew, there would almost have to be some humans in this somewhere.
I really can't fucking wait for this film ! Still can't believe Ridley's actually comming back. With all the shitty abominations to cinema that have been pumped put over the last decade, this news feels almost too good to be true. I must either be dreaming or trapped in the Matrix or something.
And to gorebath: I sincerely hope you were just jokeing about wanting Pual W.S Anderson to have been helming this because that's the last thing we need. To all the die hard 'Alien' fans who feel that Paul Anderson is awsome and should definately be directing this film, sound off ! Hear that ? Me neither.
keep the cgi out, just great creature fx and this will kick ass, I'm guessing they will be going with a gigeresque alien warrior with this one, perhaps tell the story of the space jockey?
I am glad Scott is back as director, at least he understands the franchise unlike the retards who did the "Alien vs. Predator" movies. Even if it was just average it would still beat the shit out of those two.
With AVP I don't know how they could shit all over somthing that should have been amazing. Two amazing franchises runined by Hollywood again. Please bring it back to the true fans not the children.
what do you say to somebody who thinks the Alien Franchise is overrated? Fuck them!lol nah i loved Alien and Aliens...I cant quite remember much from Aliens 2 and Ressurection was totaly mediocre.
I'm absolutely overjoyed that it's about the aliens and has absolutely nothing to do with the abortion that is the AVP films.
