Screenwriter Kevin Williamson writes on his Twitter that they WON'T be filming SCREAM IV in 3D. Some brief news comes in this evening as we've been tipped off that the Weinstein Company plans to shoot and release Scream IV in 3D. In addition, word on the street is that Wes Craven is closer than ever to returning to the director's chair. We'll keep you posted. The screenplay is being penned by Kevin Williamson and Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox are all said to be returning. The new trilogy will take on a younger version of the Scream films.

3D? Sounds tricky for this franchise but I could see Craven pulling it off. I wonder if Williamson has been writing with 3D in mind the whole time. Interesting Scream 4 art. Is that fan based? 2008, huh? Did they miss their deadline or is that just some fan art? Funny how TWC is tackling 3D so aggressively now since H2 lost to Final Destination 3D. Because of piracy, the studios are turning everything horror into 3-D films so they can start making their money back at the box office again. The downside to that-We horror fans are getting watered down mediocre movies with great 3-D effects. There's no real effort put into the actual story anymore. My Bloody Valentine 3-D and The Final Destination prove that! I'm extremely worried about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D. Oh well!

I have no problem with 3D, it's fun. I wish Craven would just hurry up and confirm he's directing . Then again, it won't be a big shock when he finally does.

Not Scream!!!! MBV 3D was awesome but come one!!! Im so excited about Scream 4 but the 3D is getting old!! The first three screams did great at the box office why do they think they have to have 3D to pull up sales especially since the orignal crew and cast is coming back? SCRWAM NEVER GETS OLD!!! I will see it either way but I hope the 3D does not hurt it.

There is absolutely NO reason that this needs to be in 3D.

LAME. I don't even care about the 3D part. I would watch myself pooping in 3D. Scream was a moment in time... a spike in pop culture. It's dead. The idea of self-referential tweens being chased by the ghostface killer is tame compared to what audiences are used to right now. FAIL.

With movies coming out on DVD within three months of the theatre release, and more and more people getting 50 plus inch TVs with surround sound, Hollywood needed to do something to keep the theatre experience unique. That's the reason for 3D rage of the 1950's. I have seen a few of the newer 3D movies and they don't all rely on cheesy 3D effects as older 3D movies did. When done right, it can make you more immersed in the experience. 3D or no 3D I am excited about the return of one of my favorite franchises!

if 3D than why not PG13 ?? 3rd Scream was kinda crap already , why bother with 4th ?? well I guess courtney, neve & david need something to do ;)

Okay now this is ridiculous, I really hope Wes puts his foot down and refuses to direct it if it's in 3D.

Awesome im glad neve is considering coming back because she turned her nose up at the idea of scream four now that her show is canceled she is running back does she not know those movies made her a star!!!!!
