With movies coming out on DVD within three months of the theatre release, and more and more people getting 50 plus inch TVs with surround sound, Hollywood needed to do something to keep the theatre experience unique. That's the reason for 3D rage of the 1950's. I have seen a few of the newer 3D movies and they don't all rely on cheesy 3D effects as older 3D movies did. When done right, it can make you more immersed in the experience. 3D or no 3D I am excited about the return of one of my favorite franchises!
