As it is my favorite non-franchise slasher film of all time, I couldn't be happier about Thursday's 35mm screening of the uncut version of My Bloody Valentine at the Cinefamily in Los Angeles. But the icing on the cake is that director George Mihalka will be on hand for a Q&A session! And the cherry on that cake is that I will be there to co-host and give out some DVDs! But wait, there's more! April Fool's Day and Don't Open Til Xmas (from some of the guys behind the immor(t)al PIECES) will be showing as well! All of this for only ten bucks, but as always, Bloody will be giving away a pair of passes to one of our readers! Read on for details.

To win a pair of passes (you and a guest) for Thursday, October 22nd's double feature of My Bloody Valentine/April Fool's Day/Don't Open Til Xmas, simply drop an email titled "VALENTINE" with your name, age, and number to SlasherScreenings@gmail.com. Winner will be chosen at random. You will be notified and your name will be held at the door. Cinefamily is located at 611 N Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036. Good luck and we will see you at the show!

The original MBV is a slasher classic. You are right BD, this is not only one of my favorites but one of the top films of the genre, PERIOD. I was really dissapointed with the 3D remake. It's not even close. I would tell anyone who has not seen it or only knows the remake, to go buy it and add it to your horror collection. I'll be viewing this ( I can't say how many times) right around the Halloween holiday as usual.

It kinda irks me that nowadays everyone seems to say MY BLOODY VALENTINE is one of their favorite slashers. If you saw the film when it was originally released (as I did) it was a fairly forgettable and completely gore-less film. I don’t remember anyone who was a horror fan in the 80s ever citing that film. Then suddenly Tarantino mentioned it in an interview and everyone went gaga over it. Granted, that new uncut DVD really showcased what the film should have been, but judging the film based on what was originally released theatrically - it was a fairly by the numbers snooze fest. No shots @ BC or Jonny Horror, just one man’s opinion

Yeah shamrock I could see that, I definitely liked the remake better than the original, then again I only watched the remake once in theatres in 3D

SHAMROCK33. No offense taken, but my comment is really honest, I never heard what Tarantino said about it. Gore to me does not make a slasher classic ( Carpenter's HALLOWEEN is a great example). I really liked the story and it was perfect for the time when the horror genre was really alive in the late 70's, early 80's with FRIDAY, THE BURNING, STRANGER CALLS,MANIAC, just to name a few.

The original MBV is a fun movie. Better than most slashers released at the time. To me the early 80's was the progression of the FX masters and them trying to out duel each other. They were trying to push the envelope. In that respect, MBV certainly hung in there with the big boys. The remake....meh - Horrible ending and it really didn't push the envelope. I'm not a hater of remakes, but the remake was certainly forgettable. Oh well, I'm sure that will be a nice little night of horror. People should go give this movie some props rather than flocking to that fucking paranormal trailer bullshit.

Sorry to have to disagree with you, Shamrock, but I *did* see MBV during its original theatrical run and thought it was awesome; it's been one of my favorites since. And I never heard Tarantino's mention of the movie.
