Universal is really pushing this sucker, it's rare when we get multiple trailers for a single film. Beyond the break you'll find the second trailer for Joe Johnston's The Wolfman, which arrives in theaters February 12th after many delays. The trailer still doesn't have me jolting in anticipation, and I find it pretty odd that they'd use an intrumentral rip-off of Marilyn Manson's "If I Was Your Vampire" for the footage. But whatever, I'll still be there opening night. Like the 1941 original that starred Lon Chaney Jr., new pic will be set in Victorian England. Benicio Del Toro will play a man who returns from America to his ancestral homeland, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence.
"Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar® winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother…and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. Lawrence Talbot’s childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother’s fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate. As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself…one he never imagined existed."
Holy shit! That's good. Not as good as the first though. Mr. Disgusting I think you should be jolting; if this was a PD picture then you would be, which thank God it isn't.
This seemed like it was appealing to the 'youngsters', but it was still good. I really want to see it. Amazing what editing can do to a film. It can either go one of two ways, good or bad at this point.
Trailer-wise..this sucked, however I am still looking forward to the film. Seeing the amount of footage and scene changes between this and the first trailer let me know that this film is going to have enough in it to please. It's been a long time since we've had a proper werewolf film, here's to hoping this one delivers like it should.
Just really a shame about the music in this one :/
Mr.Disgusting...I love you man...but everytime something new comes out on this movie you always say that "Like the original, this one is set in Victorian England."
That would place the original in the 1800s, but it was set in 1941!
Just check out the clothing and listen to the dialogue...when it came out it was MODERN!
The same for the Bela Lugosi "Dracula"...it was set in 1930.
The confusing one is "Bride of Frankenstein" where people are wearing clothing from the late 19th Century, but talking on the phone!
So, since it begins with Mary Shelly telling the story, she apparantly had set it in the future!
Anyway, this movie looks pretty good and I'm sure everyone is aware that they usually use "Temp Tracks" for Trailer Music.
I would much rather it be an R-rated film...but to make money they had better make it PG-13 so the kids can enjoy it the same way WE did when WE were kids.
This is the SECOND OFFICIAL UNIVERSAL MONSTER MOVIE REMAKE...the first being "THE MUMMY"....WHICH WAS PG-13.
So, it would seem that the "CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON" is next.
I hope Rick Baker does the make-up design for that, too and stays faithful to the original!
The Wolfman has been my favorite of the whole Universal Monsters canon since I was a kid in the '70's. I should be filled with dread at the thought of this movie after the frivolous Mummy remake and its suckish sequels, and the catastrophically bad Van Helsing, but I am not. Bring on The Wolfman!
This looks awesome. Can't wait. As for The Mummy, I agree, that was crap. I really hope they are still on target for The Creature From The Black Lagoon. That could be so great if done the right way and keeping it classic like the Wolfman appears to be. I love the old school Universal and Hammer Horror films.
Another great trailer...love the transformation scenes! I hope he's actually wearing make-up and it isn't ALL cgi because I hate that crap. Otherwise looks good though.
Also, as somebody else said before, I'm tired of the SAW music being in every movie trailer- come up with your own shit already!!
I wasn't thrilled about the remake. I like the viciousness of the new style werewolves that resemble animals, but it looks like the have combined the best of both. I can't wait.
It's got "the look" and a great cast. Seems to be respectful too of the original. I think I will love this one.
