You've got to be kidding me...at what point does all this turn to complete absurdity? Oh it already has? Ok, just checking...

I was psyched to see this movie, but now my interest in watching it is beginning to plummet. Not because I think it's going to be horrible... there's just no way in hell this could possibly live up to all the asinine hype. Same thing happened with The Blair Witch Project for me. I believed all the hype about that movie and it turned out to be one of the worst piles of shit ever filmed.

I give up. This is retarded. I will no longer be paying for this film.

Good god... Did Bloody Disgusting have a hand in making this film? Will the hype machine never end? Whatever happened to journalistic integrity?

Please, enough already with this damn movie. I will not be seeing this. Demand it...give me a break. I also hated the Blair Witch Project.

So have all of you that are mouthing this movie even seen it? It was a clinic in film making. There is no comparison to The Blair Witch here. This is infinitely better than that movie. I didn't think it would live up to the hype either but it did. Everyone on here complains about big budget hollywood remakes and that small independent movie don't get a fair shake and when one comes along that does all people do is complain about "the hype machine". Maybe if you acutally watched this movie then you would understand what all the hype is about. It pisses me off when people talk shit about a movie that you haven't even seen. The only people I have met who haven't like this movie are the people who love movies like all the new PG-13 stuff and marks for Micheal Bay. Grow up and realize that just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it sucks.

I watched this movie and still dont get it. Sure it was a lot of fun, but its not scary. In the least. People are reeeeally blowing this thing out of proportion. And the only reason why its "scary" to so many is because ppl are really just scaring themselves. People create far worse scenarios in their heads than the movie actually pulls off, which is great and all, but not because the film is actually any good, in fact because it is lacking. It really brough NOTHING new to the genre. I think the audience mad ethis film fun for em, but take them away and the movie really isnt much.

I was hyped for 2 years and actually did like it when I saw it....but JESUS isn't this going way overboard. I am starting to hate it simply because of this retarded hype. Way to overkill, BD. It's almost like Wild Hogs or something now that middle America embraced on the sole reason their Aunt Trudy said it was good.

Listen, Hype or no Hype this movie is nothing short of a second rate you tube video. Everyone who saw this is feeding into the hype because they don't want to be the one to say that this movie is trash. Nor do they want to admit that they spent $25 on a visit to the theater and got the same production value that my asshole could give you on a BAD day. This is about on the same level as Twilight. Only retarded 13 year old douchesbags who get scared by slamming doors and people mumbling shit for no reason could ever like this movie. The youth of America is nothing but a bunch of pussies. Twlight, High School Musical, .....and now this.

i did see the movie a couple of weeks ago and while much of it is VERY boring it does have several parts that are VERY effective and scary but i agree that this is now becoming a real turn off. but i will say that even before this lame PA party thing this movie has garnered more hatred and fans than even H2 did! LOL. on IMDB's page for it i'm amazed that people who DID love it are being accused of being studio plants. but whatever. it is getting out of hand.

Ignoring how awesome this movie is - the marketing buzz that this movie has created is unreal. It's been an unprecidented cash cow. While this seems excessive (to say the least) to most people - you have to ride a marketing buzz like this all the way through. It's a double edged sword for these lesser known horor projects; this movie will open the door for other projects, but I'd say for every Paranormal Activity, you'll get three dumpster fires...

haha this is fucking retarded. everyone will be seeing SAW VI at midnight obviously. i am!

Paranormal Activity was very good, but the experience was spoiled quite a bit by a horrible audience filled with dumb teenagers getting up and walking out every 5 minutes, and playing with their cell phones constantly and talking throughout. When did theaters stop iding for R rated movies? These days it's really hard for the mature audience these movies are intended for to go out and enjoy it, one reason many people don't go to theaters any more. It has nothing to do with hype, if a movie is good you will enjoy it. As soon as you get a whiff of something that might be good out there, go see it instead of reading every message board and seeing every trailer on the internet, then wondering why you may not have been shocked by the actual film when you finally see it. PS. This party idea sounds fun but I'm not paying to see it again a week later.

These comments just further confirm that you just can't please some people. This is one of the most creative and scary films to come our way in a long time, but all of the poseur little crybabies are lamenting the fact that it's popular. Jesus, just go watch some Platinum Douche crap then.

You guys (meaning the readers of BD) are so fucking annoying. seriously.

Wow it blows my mind how this movie is just marketing itself as this scary movie. I dont want to assume anything, but the same with the trailers that show the auidence reactions those are the same people who probably dont watch horror movies on a regular basis. Those were people who were handed free tickets while eating lunch at mcdonalds or something like that. So because its free they show up and are used to watching PG13 movies and next thing you know we get the back end trailer "of the scariest movie ever" If they put some of the money that there using for marketing and into the film it might fair better. Im not saying its a bad movie cause I havent seen it, but I will say as others noted they hype is just to much. Who knows maybe it actually is the scariest thing ever but I'll wait.

@I AM THE EGG MAN We are poseur babies because we reject an over-hyped turd when we know one? What is exactly unique or clever about this? Have you fuckknots not see The Changeling, Ghost Story or any other original or good horror movie in your lifetime? Just because we reject this movie doesn't mean we love PD movies and if that's the best you've got and as intelligent as you can debate then it's best people ignore you. I bet you loved My Big Fat Greek Wedding too, huh? Maybe Lifetime for Women or Hot Topic can sponsor this movie so it can find it's way into rural America next, right?

Some of you douches better not be lumping my post in with those who are hating on this movie for its hype. I'm hating on the hype itself, not the movie. I just have a hard time believing any movie could possibly live up to this amount of crap going on for it. Like I said, I haven't seen the movie yet, but when I do I'm setting my expectations pretty low so that way if the film does turn out to be fairly lame, I won't be COMPLETELY bummed out. I'm hoping it won't be a complete shit-fest like Blair Witch though, which had this kind of hype behind it.

4:33pm, October 19, 2009

^^^ I completely agree. I think the hardest part about watching this movie now is going to be remaining an impartial critic, and not someone taken away completely with the advertising and excitement.

ultrazilla2000
5:28pm, October 19, 2009

Seriously, few people are ragging on the movie itself! It's the HYPE, and the complete stupidity of HOW it's being hyped. "Demand it now!" "If one million of you DEMAND IT NOW on Facebook, we'll open wide!" "Sell out our screenings, and we'll throw a party for ourselves!" LMAO...I've never seen such self fellating from a studio!

NixEclips
5:59pm, October 19, 2009

The only reason Blair Witch worked for me was because I saw it before the hype machine kicked in. I can't see Paranormal Activity, now, because the hype has gotten to retarded strength.
