Please note these numbers are early estimates. Bloody Disgusting just got their hands on some early box office estimates. Where the Wild Things Are is looking to take the #1 spot with an estimated $40m. Paramount's Paranormal Activity could take in nearly $18m on 760 screens giving it a total of $31m and the #3 spot at the weekend box office. Horror tweens are finally catching on to Sony Screen Gems' PG-13 games as The Stepfather should take in only $11m at the #5 spot. Columbia Pictures' Zombieland is about to top $60m. Maybe they will finally release it NATIONWIDE now instead of a measly 760 theaters. Sorry, it just gets me really mad. After they say "Oh! We'll release it nationwide if we get one million demands!" they don't do it. There's a lot of us who still can't see it.

Seeing Paranormal today. Thunderdragoon I'm sorry to hear its not playing in ur area. In Orlando its playing in every theater. I think eventually it will be nationwide but I just don't want it to affect the SAW VI box office sales.

It is releasing to more and more screens each week. My local theater chain told me they are getting prints and more locations next Friday, and Friday after too...

i'm looking forward to seeing WILD THINGS ARE (but not til monday after the rush). PARANORMAL was MAJORLY boring in parts but also REALLY creepy/unsettling in other parts. it's strange how a movie can be both great & terrible in the same movie. and i'm (apparently) the ONLY one who didn't care for ZOMBIELAND at all. i mean AT ALL.

I bet the majority of the people going to see The Stepfather don't even know it's a remake.

I agree with djblack1313, I HATED zombieland. For one, how can you claim to be making a zombie movie when there were around 3 actual scenes of zmobies. Yeah, driving by in the car doesn't quite count. The whole movie was them TALKING about the zombie apocalypse. On top of that, they were AWFUL zombies. Since when can they open doors, feel pain, and climb ladders? Paranormal activity was great tho and the nationwide release was very well deserved.

Paranormal Activity deserves every cent (and more) of $31 million. That movie was fantastic, I've seen it twice already. My ONLY problem was the giant asshole convention of people in the theater who thought every night scene was so goddamn funny that they had to laugh and make jokes at it. Apparently, saying 'fuck' in a movie now is also considered comic genius, because every time a character said it they were all borderline pissing themselves. Fucking assholes.

Paranormal was so disappointing. I was bored the ENTIRE time. I felt that it catered to people afraid of loud noises. That is what I thought Stepfather was going to be which is why I decided to skip it this weekend. I might actually give it a go next week after SAW of course. I have learned to never believe the hype and looking back I should have realized that when a trailer shows more fan reactions than actual clips of the movie, things probably won't turn out well. Anyway I must congratulate the filmmakers because even though I did not enjoy the film I do admire their journey from indie film to big studio effort. Just wish I enjoyed the movie a little more.

I just saw "Where the Wild Things Are". My family and I loved it!! Spike Jonze should get an oscar nod. This movie is already sparking controversy. Thanks for the news, Mr. Disgusting!!

Saw The Stepfather yesterday. It was well-made and had some nice suspenseful sequences. Nice T & A as well, always a plus.

"Paranormal Activity" was pure trash. When a door barely moves why do people scream and get scared? Boggles my mind. Everytime they went to sleep people started freaking out and screaming when nothing has happened. I mean are we that freaked out by nothing happening? Bonus points for the marketing behind this little indie flick and getting noticed. Still, I can't believe I waited two years and this is what I get. Now there having parties for the first 10 places to sellout now that's just stupid, but smart money making wise. I will give it a thumbs up if it's the movie that finally destroys the "Saw" franchise.
