Since Screen Gems isn't showing the film to press, we sent Ryan Daley off to catch their remake of The Stepfather, and to all of our surprise, he dug it! "I’m as unhappy about the rash of PG-13 remakes as anyone out there, but somehow (and I’m as incredulous as anybody), The Stepfather doesn’t qualify as one of the failures. yea i highly doubt this is good. i've seen no i mean no pg-13 horror remake that was even remotely entertaining. i'll check it out on dvd of course but i know it really won't be good...at all. its from the same guy who did prom night so its pry a tad less horrendous than that pile of crap.
I would like to see it. It doesn't look bad at all. The PG13 does not bother me. It just means no graphic sex/nudity, people constantly saying the F word and excessive blood/gore which is fine with me. The Stepfather was more of a psychological suspense/thriller than a horror film anyway, and I love suspense thrillers.
Ummm...so Ripvanryan's review on BD called Terry O'Quinn's version of The Stepfather a "pussy".....That right there tells me that his opinion on the new version is meaningless. Sorry.
Basically anything is better than that "movie" they called Prom Night
