'Saw VII' 3D Will Be Authentic

Something that bothers me quite a bit is that Alex Aja's Piranha is being turned into a 3D movie during post-production. While some say it still looks great, I say it's a crock of sh*t. This afternoon Lionsgate he'd their "annual" Saw press day where producer Mark Berg was on hand to discuss the 3-D process for their forthcoming Saw VII, which is to be helmed by David Hackl (Saw V). Read on for the skinny.

"Saw, just by the way it's shot, lends itself to being a 3-D movie," producer Mark Berg tells IGN. "We saw a test that somebody did, a minute of Saw transferred from 2-D to 3-D and it looked great. We're not going to transfer VII, but we'll actually shoot it in 3-D. We want to be able to build the sets in a way that takes advantage of depth. We're going to design traps to come out at you. The pendulum trap that opened the last movie would have been great in 3-D. There's a lot of the movie we're planning through the victims eyes, seeing stuff as it comes toward them. But I think the audience wants those moments where the weapon comes into the audience."

Jeez. I still can't believe we're talking about SAW VII...

There's more on the subject that you'll find by clicking the link. What do you guys think? Do you want to see SAW in 3-D? Do you think shooting it in actual 3-D makes a huge difference over converting it? TALK!

A HAH first! but nevertheless I still LOVE the SAW series although 5 was bland. I say go for it as long as you finish it. I'll still watch them even if they go to 50... i think. Just keep the plot twists!!

I remember back when Saw 1 came out, and the big news story was something like "Lionsgate purchases web addresses for Saw2.com all the way through Saw8.com" or something along those lines. I never actually thought it would get that far, but now, yes, it will indeed get that far. Even if part 7 bombs, they'll do a part 8 to milk one last little bit out of the franchise. Then at some point, they'll make a part 9 or a Saw X as a way to try to reinvent the franchise, and then...It'll be remade. Yep!

Having seen the Avatar extended preview in 3D I'm all about the new 3D, it looks amazing. The thing that bothers me is that they're planning on using 3D gimmicks for Saw VII. The new 3D is awesome because it's not a gimmick, it adds real depth to the picture, pop-out gags should be extinct by now, they're just cheesy. Plus when I get the movie home on blu-ray it's not gonna have the same impact as the theater and it'll just seem even more cheesy. I still love the series though, so we'll see how it goes.

Sounds like fun but I am tired of Saw

All I want for Christmas this year is for the SAW franchise to be DONE. I had a nightmare last night. I came across a theater marquee that read "SAW X, JIGSAW IN SPACE."

I'm a HUGE fan of the SAW series but I'm very bothered by this announcement of SAW VII, especially so soon before SAW VI premieres. I think it's a little disrespectful to the director Kevin Greutert and to the fans that make these movies successful. Right now my focus is on SAW VI and hoping it's a winner. I have faith in Kevin's direction with this franchise. The announcement about SAW VII could've waited, it's too soon to be talking about traps jumping out at you. As far as it being in 3-D, I'm open to it but let's see SAW VI FIRST! Geesh!

My question to those who want it shot in 3-D is this: can this truly be appreciated viewed anywhere but the theater? I'm a huge Saw fan but I'm hoping that the VII doesn't come across as hokey once it comes to DVD/Blu-Ray. Though I enjoyed Bloody Valentine 3-D, I'm not that interested in seeing it outside the theater. But I'm a Saw devotee so I'm hoping there will be more to it than just the 3-D novelty.

IMAX 3D would be pretty badass.

I prefer movies to be 3d in post, cause when they shoot it as a gimmick, it looks so obvious on a regular tv. this is something anything with quality would avoid.

When are we getting Debbie Does Dallas 3-D? I want to be dodging cum shots...

Mr. D i don't exactly get why it bothers you that Aja is doing P3D that way. many of us who HATE the 3D assault on this genre REALLY hate how 3D movies look or rather DON'T look on our TV's when the DVD comes out. it sounds like Aja's way of doing this will make the movie experience (for those who thrill to 3D) AND the DVD experience (for those like me). i love that Aja shot the movie as a 2D movie. that means (i assume) we will get a great 2D movie on dvd.

Paying an extra 5bucks to watch it in theatre is annoying, unless you have the glasses already you can just sneak it but Im never sure about the 3D, you cant watch it the same way you do a regular 2D movie because you focus on the 3D when your suppose to focus on the movie itself. I say keep the Saw movies coming, and if youre not down with it, dont watch em!

SAW 7 will indeed be in 3D! SAW 8 will be a musical! SAW 9 will be a 3D-musical! SAW 10 will star Simon Lebouf and Megan Fox vs. a cybernetic Jigsaw on Mars!...

idk.i don't think i've seen a 3d movie not shot that way.But I think its definitely better to shoot 3d if you're gonna make it 3d.I still can't wait for Piranha and I think Saw will be great in 3d.bring on 7!!!

Saw 8 the musical made me chuckle. Watched 1-3 and lost what little interest I had in this franchise. There was a tv spot for Saw (I forget what station, might have been Scream) where they put a laugh track over the guy sawing his leg off. Very well done spot. Enjoyed it more than the film.

saw sucks, always has always will. there was never anything scary about the film and it's always been predictible. i can't believe there are people out there that like this crap! give us something good, lionsgate has become the new line of this era but the only difference is that new line was great!

The Saw franchise blows hard dicks.

It was inevitable. The new trend is '3D horror', which sounds great in concept (things coming out at the audience and what not), I have yet to see it done well. My Bloody Valentine did a decent job with 3D, The Final Destination had great potential but was by far the worst of the series. The series is only still around because its a money machine, and Saw IV, V, and soon VI all prove that. Hopefully Piranha will be good, and Aja's done good work (Hills Have Eyes, High Tension) before so there's still hope.

Wasn't Pirahna intended to be 3D since before the first camera rolled?

I can appreciate the "Saw" franchise for its psychological drama, because I just block out the sadistic parts. However I have no desire to see this film in 3D. It gives me a headache just trying to visualize this concept. I will see hopefully the very last Saw on DVD when it comes out.

I'm pretty sure Toy Story 2 has the best 3D. Anyways, I liked Saw I and II...III was alright...IV was terrible, yet i still havent seen V yet.

Enough with this 3D bullshit already.
