Arriving on both DVD and Blu-ray October 13th from Severin Films is a new transfer of Richard Stanely's cult classic Hardware. We had a chance to preview the Blu-ray and let me tell you, it's STUNNING. In the film a wandering soldier finds a robot head in the post-apocalyptic desert. He brings it back to his girlfriend for use in one of her sculptures. He investigates the origin of the head, and discovers it's from the Mark 13 project, canceled because of unreliability. His girlfriend, nay, society at large become endangered when the robot puts itself back together using the parts she has for her sculptures. The new release comes uncut and rocking the following extra features: DD 5.1 Audio, Anamorphic Widescreen, Audio Commentary with Richard Stanley, Sea of Perdition - Short Film, Making-of Documentary and Early Super 8 Version of Hardware. It was originally rated X by the MPAA.
Wonder if this movie would have been received the same without the red lens shots. Not understanding the allure of Icky Pop either, although the PIL tunes on the soundtrack were cool. This is what you want, this is what you get...
