For those of you keeping up with Wes Craven's forthcoming horror project 25/8, the writer/director has been tweeting updates over the past few days, one which includes a pic from the mixing studio (check it out below). The trailer is said to be coming soon, and Universal is known for launching a huge campaign in short notice. As legend has it, a notorious serial slayer will return to the sleepy community of Riverdale to finish off the seven children born on the night he purportedly died. But is the slayer really dead, or is he still at large? Or has the mysterious evil personality that once impelled his bloody spree entered the body of an unwary teen, who will now be compelled to do his evil bidding?

"Finished the mix for '25/8'" writes Craven.

Just wanted to be the first to comment. I'm jazzed that Craven's doing some more original stuff that looks like it has potential. Of course I'd rather it be a Nightmare movie, but I'll take it.

I'm always glad to see a true master of horror get back behind the lens.

We are in dire need of original movies, and Raimi's Drag Me to Hell was great. The classic brotherhood directors of the 80s seems to all have projects in the works. Landis has his thing, Carpenter has his, and seemingly Cronenberg is open to do another horror flick. Aside from the few modern directors who are at classic level(Aja and Marshall, to name a few), none have hit their mark and left an imprint as the old order of 70s/80s horror.

Glad to see some R rated horror coming from Wes Craven! Hopefully it won't be cut like Cursed was.. Can't wait!

Blood-Sicles, Cursed wasn't cut. It was totally rewritten. Williamson's original version was more serious(yet retains SOME comedy, like Scream), more dark and was a hard-R. Dimension(primarily the Weinsteins) wanted something to be marketable to teens, so they made him go back and rewrite it as a PG-13 horror comedy. Most of the original people attached to the R-rated version had to be replaced by the ones in the final version(though, I believe Ricci was one who was cast in the R-rated version). Companies like Dimension are why lots of good original horror flicks get castrated. Remember, Weinsteins also wanted to do a Hellraiser remake that took place on a college campus and have Pinhead massacre sorority girls and frat boys like a common slasher.

Sounds like an awesome premise here!! Of course it is...its Wes Caven. Thanks as usual! 25/8 is on film list now.

Regardless of how 'Cursed' was changed... Craven still churned out a massive pile of shit. Even if it was rewritten, Craven then started directing it from scratch. I hate to be the naysayer here, but Craven has only made a few good movies... a FEW.

I'm looking forward to this. Sure, Craven is hit and miss but when he hits he's great.

Man, bring this on! Craven's not getting any younger. I wonder how many "Original" films he'll do after this.

GGoblin31, Craven only making a good few movies is subjective, though the same could be said about the majority of horror directors. Most are one-hit wonders, at the least. This is more so evident nowaydays. But yeah, I'm kinda an odd bird when it comes to my liking of Craven's movies. I won't go as far to say I liked the 80s Hills Have Eyes 2, but I LOVED Deadly Friend, Shocker and People Under the Stairs. I also loved Red Eye. For Cursed, well, Craven could only do so much without being tied by the Weinsteins. He's commented before on how he doesn't care for how they constantly hinder artistic freedom. There's various other accounts in movies where directors weren't allowed to be given freedom to do what they wanted.

Awesome news, I love Wes Craven, he's a great director, I have'nt seen one movie from him that I've hated yet so I'm looking forward to this. Glad he still has so many original ideas in him.

Sounds like the basic formula for just about every horror movie. Hopefully it won't suck like MOST of Craven's work. And, according to the article in Fangoria, Cursed was rewritten because the couldn't figure out the third act (or what little of it they had), so they scraped most of what had previously been written. Ricci, Ulrich, and that goofy young kid (who ended up playing Ricci's brother) were originally unrelated characters somehow caught up in the accident at the beginning that sets up the rest of the film. Sorry, I know this is random, just killing time at work
