Update #2: In addition, Topher Grace - who played Venom in 'Spider-Man 3' - is also in talks, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
In addition, Brody will star alongside Alice Braga (Repo Men, I Am Legend), Danny Trejo (Grindhouse, From Dusk 'Til Dawn), Walt Goggins ("Shield"), Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali ("4400", The Curious Case of Benjamin ButtonThe Curious Case of Benjamin Button), and Louiz Ozawa (Indelible Fair Game).
Written by Rodriguez, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch, the script follows a group of elite warrior-types who are being hunted by members of a race of merciless alien trackers called Predators.
Brody is a man who ends up inheriting the mantle of leader and is known as a hunter of men. Grace would play an accountant-type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer.
Braga is the tough female killer. Ali is a man not afraid to die, Goggins is the loose canon of the group and Taktarov is a former Russian special ops agent.
Trejo, already cast, is Cuchillo, a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back.
Shooting begins next month in Hawaii then moves to moves to Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin.
Nimrod Antal is directing a film that is about to get underway on location in Hawaii and at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.
Fox has set the film for release July 9, 2010.
Best known for his Oscar-winning turn in the Roman Polanski-directed “The Pianist,” Brody has an opportunity to reinvent himself as a flat out action hero, playing a character close to the one that Arnold Schwarzenegger portrayed in the 1987 original.
Brody and his Paradigm reps lobbied hard for the role. Fox has high hopes to spring a new franchise, and Brody has signed options to return for future installments, sources said.
This makes things more interesting than just copying the original Predator. Brody doesn't bother me. He is a good actor and probably the only reason I liked The Jacket. He doesn't strike me as an action hero tho...but I'd like to see him try to play the part. Better than getting some John Cena person...
this is exactly the reason for Stallones "The Expendables" . . .i'm tired of these pansy ass actors being cast in action flicks. why not go ahead and cast Mos Def in place of Carl Weathers
Come to think of it, Brodie kinda looks like the guy from the first Predator who was always telling bad perverted jokes to the Indian. Nice to hear such a big name actor is into doing this genera film. He seems like a better fit for the mild-mannered psycho part though.
You guys are morons. Brody's an awesome choice. This isn't a remake. If it was, then sure: bring aboard some hulking actor to redo the same thing that was done better originally. Brody can bring depth to the project. Trust me, he'll do good.
Does anyone else want to smack Brody across the mouth for WEARING A TIE UNDERNEATH THE FUCKING COLLAR in the above picture? Look at him, with his douche goatee and his douch tie inside his shirt and his douch sideways nose!
Good call mav07, that is quite a douche-bag look he has going on. It looks worse than guys who wear jeans, and sport-coats. He guy was pretty good in that movie about the guy who played superman though.
Damn this movie is gonna suck big time. horrible casting except for Danny Trejo and possible Derek Mears but casting Adrien Brody is a big mistake. he sucks i cant stand his sorry ass especially in the remake of King Kong.
Man, look at you little bitches whining. It's pathetic. You're all so conditioned to the idea of a huge muscle action star that you're not willing to give a different actor a chance. An Oscar winning actor, mind you. Adrien Brody is an excellent actor and this is the best damn thing that has happened to this project yet. I'm just going to sit back and laugh whilst you numb skulls complain about the role not being given to another dime-a-dozen action star.
This is good. Having an oscar winner gives a huge dose of validation to this movie. And while Brody has yet to prove himself as an action star, nobody can question his acting abilities.
...And about Danny Trejo. Funny how his character name here pays tribute to his Machete. Cuchillo, of course, is Spanish for knife.
