'Paranormal Activity' Expands to 20 More Cities, Read an E-mail from Director Oren Peli

Bloody Disgusting and Dread Central exclusively received a very special letter from Oren Peli, director of Paramount Pictures' Paranormal Activity (review). While the film received a very small limited release this past weekend (only 12 theaters), Peli is proud to announce that his terrifying low budget haunt film is expanding to 20 markets come next weekend -- and it's all thanks to YOU! Continue to DEMAND THE FILM in your area and hopefully we can blow this sh*t up together as a horror community!

"After a young, middle class couple moves into what seems like a typical suburban “starter” tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to."

Hurrah, more main cities everyone would have expected it to go to anyway. At least Repo! picked up some obscure cities on its road tour.

I think with the positive buzz this movie is getting and the fans desire to see it the next step is to get the poughkeepsie tapes released. I saw Poughkeepsie tapes the other day and it was amazing and scared the hell out of me. Glad this is going to MN I will be there to see it.

Saturdaythe13th, those were just weekend ESTIMATES before. This afternoon is when the actuals are released. I think they should take this wide Halloween weekend. Nothing else opens that weekend besides Michael Jackson's concert movie, which opens on a Wednesday. Until then I think they should expand it at a slower pace and not rush it. Sure I want to see it, quite bad actually, but I want them to do what's best for the movie and that's take it slower. Let it build more and more buzz for a month.
