Update: Paramount contacted us letting us know they expect to hit upwards of $150k this weekend! For those of you who are curious as to how Paranormal Activity kicked off its theatrical run, it did pretty outstanding. Opening in only 12 screens this weekend, the film took in $33,600 on Friday alone with the film looking to take in close to $100k by Sunday. If you guys continue to demand it, there's a good chance of it expanding and making even more next weekend. Most of you constantly bitch and moan about how hard we push remakes and big budget studios films, well, this is your chance to prove to the world that YOU want to see highly effective indie films in theaters as well. So quit reading and go demand it now!

I agree with Mr. Disgusting. I've seen this film, and people really need to "Demand It." I hope this film gets a wide release. It's THAT good.

Um...I think you guys made a typo! It's only on 12 screens, but it made over $33 MILLION in one night? Yeaaahhhhh.

33 million doesnt seem right at ALL. And its highly unprofesional to call your readers bitches and say they moan.

That's almost 3 million per screen....that would be incredible. I have been demanding the shit out of this but I seriously doubt it's gonna come to oklahoma..

i demand a cut of the 33 million!

ThunderDragoon
3:05pm, September 26, 2009

I've already demanded it, but there's not many other people who demanded it in my town. It really made $33,600,000? Is that a typo? If not, why isn't this in wide theatrical release?!

I have already demanded it! I have been waiting for over 3 years to see this film.

It's a typo.

33 Million? and its close to making 10k? LOL

The tickets must have been around $60,000 apiece. Lol

Yeah, you might want to fix that obvious typo and to consider to stop calling your readers bitches. Not a good way to keep people coming back to read more articles. Sure, this is supposed to be a hard-edged, uncensored website, but it should still exude professionalism. Especially being that it's the leading horror news site on the net, and horror movies still don't stand a chance of ever being taken seriously by critics worldwide.

Not trying to piss you off, I'm just sayin'.

Not only do they bitch and moan, but their stupid too. $36 Million? It's obviously a typo.

get this back to chicago.. wasn't able to see it thursday night.. and its obviously a typo.. more like $33,600

4:24pm, September 26, 2009

I won't point out the typo since most here made it appearant. But saying 'WE' bitch and moan is highly hypocritical of you.

4:50pm, September 26, 2009

Lol terrible typo. Fix it quick. And what is with those stupid ads on the site that you can't skip... it's annoying as hell.

Yeah, this idiot has typos all the time, and just earlier in the week he was pointing out errors in a message from the Weinstein brothers. Fucking pathetic. And his reviews pretty much suck, whether I love or hate the same movies he does. He contradicts himself more than the fucking bible, it's really quite fun to keep up with this site.

Figures. One of the 12 screens it's playing at is in a town I just moved out of a month ago. Just my luck.

Calling someone a bitch is not the same thing as saying someone bitches and moans. Learn your terms people. And yes, many who post here DO bitch and moan all the time, so he was just calling it as he reads it!

I was in Ann Arbor last night to a sold out showing of Paranormal Activity, and after all the hype this film has been receiving I think it is safe to say, at least on my part, that it definitely held up to the talk. There were no open seats, people were sprawled across the floors, and not a soul left their seat from start to finish. And for such a fantastic movie, I hope this weekend is enough to anoint it the release it deserves. People need to see this movie. The line to get in was insane and the mood was so upbeat and positive from everyone there that it added to the experience 10 fold. The feeling I received at the end was that what we just witnessed was something that would be remembered as one of the greatest cinematic experiences of all time.

i just really hate this kind of marketing. of course the movie is likely to go nation wide (i'm thinking sometime between november and february). the hype machine they created seemed to work. at least it's supposed to be a pretty good movie.
