In an article where top dog Variety writer Peter Bart refers to Hellraiser as "Hell Raisers" and An American Werewolf in London as "American Warewolf in London" (simply classic), we learn of some potential 2010 releases for Dimension Films, along with some major 3-D plans. Beyond the break you'll find out a bit more about Scream IV (Neve Campbell returning?!), along with plans for Halloween III, Hellraiser and even Scanners all to be shot in 3-D! What do you guys think?
Promising that I'm going back to doing what I do best, Bob Weinstein has unveiled several films to be released by Dimension over the next year, many in 3-D.
Scream IV will start production in April or May as the first of a new trilogy and the company is talking to Wes Craven to direct, Weinstein reports. Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette will star.
In addition, the company wants to shoot Halloween III in 3-D, aiming to release it in October 2010. Dimension also is remaking the cult classic, Children of the Corn.
Im heading back to my franchise films, Weinstein declared, citing plans to shoot sequels to "Hell Raisers (yeah, I'm sure he meant Hellraiser) and Scanners in 3D. Also on the slate are Short Circuit and American Warewolf in London (again, I'm sure he meant "Werewolf"). These films are our strength and we are committed to doing them in style.
The first three Scream pictures registered grosses of roughly $100 million a piece in the U.S.
Weinstein also said that The Road will open wide on November 25th in some 800 theatres.
In response to a query, Weinstein said there is no question that financing is readily available to produce and market these films. He added: I am eager to expand our scope in the 3D business.
Wow, thats some good news. Scream 4 with Neve: Thumbs Up! Halloween 3 released in Halloween: Thumbs Up!
Werewolf/Hellraiser/Scanners: Thumbs Up!
I'm really looking forward to 2010!
I am most excited for Scream 4. I do hope to see Neve back, but hopefully not just to kill her off right away. Now if only they would get on releasing the first 3 Screams on Blu-ray in 2010!
PRAISE JEEBUS! NEV IS BACK! I WAS GETTING SCARED ABOUT THE NEW TRILOGY WITH NO SIDNEY. NOW IM HAPPY AND WILL SEE IT.
FUCK 3D.. (ALTHO SCANNERS WOULD LOOK PRETTY COOL HEEHEHE)
First off, these two sacks of shit know nothing about horror and will further ruin any of these already tired out franchises. Who cares if you shoot them in 3D? It's the equivalent of polishing a turd. Do we really want another Scream? Scanners? Hellraiser? Fuck me. Give us something new so you douche bags have something to remake in ten years.
Hellraiser in 3D should be great. Not to mention Halloween, which I'm already pumped about. Now all they have to do is pull Rob Zombie off of The Blob remake and they'll be golden.
i agree and disagree with battletorn, on one hand i want a new scream movie and on the other... ENOUGH WITH THE FUCKING IDEA THAT WE NEED SEQUEL AFTER SEQUEL AFTER FUCKING SEQUEL.It's like those fucking Saw travesties, enough already. God
I would like a new Hellraiser, but i would prefer a fresh story with Pinhead in it for the majority of the film. The first one was good, but didn't have enough of the cenobites - the second one was the best..."I recommend... amputation".
Roughly Translated: Were pretty sure we can save our asses by going back to Scream. So we can hopefully rehash some excellent horror films with the cheesy 3-D trend for some quick opening weekend box office dollars. What's this Bob,no "The Burning" remake with a bunch of over manicured sluts and hunky dudes from The Hills or whatever?.....in 3-D no doubt.
damn its the slasher golden age all over again this year we get mbv f13 h2 sorority row fd4 the last house on the left saw 6 i mean damn and we get to have chains come at us ahhhhhhh and a haloween movie in 3d on halloween and scream 4 with all origanal surviving actors and 2010 is another great year for slashers hellraiser a nightmare on elm street halloween friday the 13th part 2 saw 7 and scanners imagine a head blowin up in your face in 3d damn and i mean avgn damn
Seriously it looks like Dimension is becoming pretty damn desperate for a hit. I mean remaking a bunch of classic cult horror movies in 3D must be a bad sign. I just wonder now when audiences will get tired of EVERYTHING being in 3D becuase it's starting to even get on my nerves.
They're going to need to do something cool with the next Halloween film. There is a lot of resentment built up for this franchise right now; some deserved, some not. I just hope that they don't try thinking too far outside the box. I'm excited about Scream 4. I'm pretty sure it will have a great script that deals with the rules of how to survive a remake. That would be great for Wes to stick it to Platinum Douche. Scanners in 3-D. That would be sick.
