Murder by Decree, hailed as an "intelligent, gripping and totally irresistible" Sherlock Holmes mystery (New York Daily News), comes to DVD for the first time from Lionsgate on December 15th. Starring Emmy® winner Christopher Plummer (Outstanding Voice-Over Performance, "Madeline," 1994), three-time Academy Award® nominee James Mason (Best Actor in a Supporting Role, The Verdict, 1982; Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Georgy Girl, 1966; Best Actor in a Leading Role, A Star is Born, 1954) and Emmy® winner Donald Sutherland (Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Special, Citizen X, 1995), the film follows renowned detective Sherlock Holmes on his quest to capture his deadliest adversary Jack the Ripper.
The DVD includes an audio commentary with co-producer/director Bob Clark (A Christmas Story), theatrical trailers and artwork galleries. Murder by Decree will be available December 15, 2009, coinciding with the theatrical release of Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr.
When Scotland Yard is unable to stop the gruesome rampage of Jack the Ripper, a citizens committee asks Sherlock Holmes and his trusted associate Dr. Watson to investigate.
