Bloody Disgusting & Dread Central received confirmed word this evening that Patrick Lussier has officially signed the dotted line to direct Halloween 3D for Dimension Films. He'll be heading to Haddonfield with Todd Farmer, who will be penning the screenplay. The duo previously worked together on MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D for Lionsgate, making them perfect candidates to bring Michael Myers to theaters in 3D. Shooting is scheduled for this fall. What do you guys think of the news?

I love that we'll get a real Halloween III for this "re-imagined" series...so happy to get more but PLEASE tell me Scout and Tyler return or it's over...

No Scout please, the character of Louri is done. Rob screwed all the characters we loved in the original. Hope Lussier gives us a true "Halloween" movie with atmosphere and fresh likable characters. Back to basics please, babysitter's + michael= a good time.

im sick and tired of all this 3D bullshit...whats this new fascination with it?

I have no faith in this whatsoever. I didn't like MBV3D, and I am also baffled as to how people can sit through the same movie over and over again, but in 3D. The Ring 3D? Halloween 3D? Final Destination 3D? Come on now, don't be stupid. They're all the SAME movie built around this bullshit 3D gimmick. Maybe its cool once or twice, but its getting out of control (like the "remake" situation did, and look how that turned out). And as far as I remember hearing/reading (in legit, professionally published articles) Scout was only signed for two, as was Tyler.

WHOS GOT THUMBS AND IS NOT HAPPY HOW 3D IS TAKEN OVER THE FUCKIN WORLD!!! <------- THIS GUY!

F.Y.I. I am not in favor of making everything 3D. In fact when I watch MBVT on blue ray, I don't watch it in 3D. Yes it is a gimmick, but that's not going to stop me from watching a movie. To be honest I would prefer for H3 to not be in 3D but since Bob & Harvery Weinstein want a 3D pic, then Lussier is the best man for the job.

Great news. MBV 3D was excellent. I just hope they move on from Laurie.

i can't believe it. Is it real. It feels like a dream. After witnesses a trainwreck. Finally there is light at the end of a long tunnel. This is great. I was so dissappointed and sadened from seeing the last movie. I didn't want to see another one again. This really changed my mind. I am very happy. I am definitely on board. I really enjoyed valentine 3.d. Thank u dimension. Michael myers is finally coming home. :)

Agree...love more Halloween as long as the actors return for their parts but enough with the 3D...my GOD is it overdone now!!

My bloody Valentine wasnt bad, and Farmer did write Jason X, does this mean he will also be in this one to? I think it will be cool to finally see Michael in 3D, its his turn. Besides anything is better than that awful, terrible, lousy Rob Zombie treatment.H2 is the first "Halloween" I will wait to see on DVD. I hope they make this one suspensful & scary!

Right off the bat, I'm a huge fan of both of Zombies entries in the Halloween series. But has Halloween really hit such a low point as to jump on the 3-D bandwagon? I personally don't think so. Although if they're talking about doing Halloween 3 as in Season of the Witch over again in 3-D, that would be cool to see, and at least new. But definitely no Michael in 3-D.

Pathetic... this movie is going to suck.

Would have preferred Steve Miner coming back on board again, but I'm not really against this. The pair did well on MBV3D. Just not sold on the whole 3D thing. It means the next entry is gonna be cheesey as hell (as well as rushed), which is not Halloween. I say get this inevitable 3D entry done and dusted and then concentrate on getting the series back to what it was before RZ took the reins...and that pile of shit that was Resurrection.

I guess 3D is bankable but me personally, I am not a fan of 3D. 2D is good enough for me. Hopefully 3 will be the last Halloween for a while and they can re-boot the series and do it right or just let it die.

Wow, Michael Myers in 3D would be super cool but if they're planning on picking up where Zombie left off and not taking the series back to the basics I'm not interested!

"My Bloody Valentine" was a really bad movie. I saw the 2D version, which was obviously the worst way to experience the movie, but still...the acting sucked, the writing was lousy, the HD-cinematography sub-par...Meh. But I have to say I'm interested in seeing Lussier's vision of "Halloween".

Thank God RZ is out! Now I'm actually looking forward to this.

Seriously are u kidding me why cant they leave it alone now Rob Zombie was the perfect guy to remake and end the series and i think they way he made them they were perfect in my opinion and i am just mad they are leting this non talented director and writer work on Halloween of the biggest horror movies of all time this just pisses me off i just hope most of the cast is back this will be hard to watch with out Rob Zombie being the director. this director makes twilight look great and i hate twilight

I will wait and see. The first Zombie Halloween was two thirds good, and one third horrible. The latest sequel was a mishmash clustered up ball of frenetic stupidity mixed with lots of violence. Yippee? I have nothing against the cast, I think Lussier is very capable of making a good movie based on the first twenty minutes of MBV, but I'm not really holding my breath for this one.

Bostic101
7:07am, September 19, 2009

No Rob Zombie! it should have been that way from the beginning considering his previous movies had zero touch of the Halloween franchise style. The sequel may have a better chance at actually being something good but I think since Rob is gone, the only thing left to fuck the movie up now is some lame 3D

horrorfan100
7:59am, September 19, 2009

i am so excited about halloween 3 but i hope you bring back the charactors that still survived in rob zombies halloween 2

8:16am, September 19, 2009

I too am happy that the Rob Zombie "trash" era is over, however I am not crazy about this news either. I watched MBV3D and laughed my ass off through the whole movie. It was all cheesy horror cliche's and bad acting. Every minute of the way, you knew what was going to happen. I guess I will do as i did with Zombie. That is, pray for the best, but expect the worse. Here we go again! Hopefully Tyler Mane is back, but please...No Scout and her baby-talk jibberish.
