TIFF '09: Plans For a Third 'REC' Underway!

Just getting back to the hotel after the Midnight Madness premiere of REC 2, where Spanish directors Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza were on hand to introduce the sequel to their groundbreaking horror film that has already spawned a remake. While the sequel is arriving in Spanish theaters next month, the duo reveal that they are already thinking about doing a third. "We swore we wouldn't make second one," Paco Plaza jokes after explaining how they swore up and down they would never continue the story, "but I think we want to make it. Maybe next year we are here with a third? I don't know." Could we be seeing a third REC at the Toronto International Film Festival come 2010? Let's cross our fingers. Watch this spot for a review of REC 2 soon.

The same talented directors stick to the same claustrophobic concept in REC 2, but find new means of transferring fear from the screen to the spectator through the recording lens.

The action continues from [Rec], with the medical officer and a SWAT team outfitted with video cameras are sent into the sealed off apartment to control the situation.

REC 2 is one of the best horror sequels I have ever seen, it takes REC & amps it up while also adding some really brilliant mythology to the whole thing.

DREAMWAVE i fully agree that the French are the leaders right now on amazing horror movies. i love them all! i thought i read on BD or one of the sites that REC3 would have the outbreak explode out in to the streets/world. i can't wait for REC2. i just hope that SONY won't delay and fuck with the release of REC2 until their QUARANTINE 2 comes out like they did with REC1's ridiculously long delay on DVD.

yeah I was luck,y I got to see both Inside & Martyrs in theaters(thanks TIFF for being so awesome) & both those films are unmatched in the terror they cause. They are probably the 2 best horror films of the last 10 years.

Looks like a good first person shooter actually. I'll see it though, apparently there a lovely relationship akin to the Alien/Aliens, in that the first is about fear and claustrophobia, the second is pure adrenaline.
