Beyond the break you'll find an exclusive clip from Richard Stanely's cult classic Hardware, which arrives on both DVD and Blu-ray October 13. The film comes uncut and censored and rocking the following extra features: DD 5.1 Audio, Anamorphic Widescreen, Audio Commentary with Richard Stanley, Sea of Perdition - Short Film, Making-of Documentary and Early Super 8 Version of Hardware. It was originally rated X by the MPAA. The boys over at AITH has your exclusive look at the cover art. A wandering soldier finds a robot head in the post-apocalyptic desert. He brings it back to his girlfriend for use in one of her sculptures. He investigates the origin of the head, and discovers it's from the Mark 13 project, canceled because of unreliability. His girlfriend, nay, society at large become endangered when the robot puts itself back together using the parts she has for her sculptures.
Long time since I've seen Hardware, forgot how decent a film it is. Glad to see some worthwhile extras on the disc, the short films look especially interesting.
Why hasn't anyone told me about this movie before? Thanks Mr. Disgusting, without you so much of my movie collection would still be missing. Also, love the music. Weird.
Holy shit! This is the most fantastic news I've heard since the Dust Devil release! I just got chills, thinking about the release. This is one of those films I saw in the (basically, empty) theater, and new I was watching a genius.
I have the soundtrack and LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie. Its going to look incredible on Blu-Ray. Finally its getting respect. If nobody else does, Ill do a piece on this soon.
YYYYEEEESSSS!!!!!!
I have been watching my region 2 version for too long. I can't believe they did DUST DEVIL before HARDWARE, but whatever. I was actually lucky enough to catch this in the theater when it came out in 1990. It still influences me today.
I've actually talked to Mr. Stanley on occasion, and he's very cool. He does appreciate his fans still.
I went and Ebay'd a VHS copy and i still have yet to watch it (though i know how awesome it's supposed to be). Now that an uncut DVD is coming out I'm debating on snagging another copy.
