Patrick Lussier in Talks for 'Halloween 3D'

Since when does Variety jump on stories that aren't confirmed? I guess we're entering a new era. Bloody Disgusting caught up with My Bloody Valentine 3D director Patrick Lussier last week to confirm a rumor we were told that he was in talks for Dimension Films' Halloween 3D. He confirmed he WAS in talks, but it sounded like no definite plans were coming anytime soon, so we filed the story away until something more solid came in. We had also heard Alex Aja was in talks, but debunked that as quickly as we heard it. Fact is, we're also hearing the movie is far from greenlit, even though the Weinstein Company jumped on a 2010 date for Michael Myers' return to theaters. Hey, if they can get it going, all the power to 'em. What would you think of Lussier directing?

I've seen Dracula 2000, which I wasn't impressed with, and his remake of My Bloody Valentine, which I enjoyed very much. He might be an alright candidate for director of the next Halloween. What I really would like to know though is who would write it?

I thought Valentine was good, not great, but solid. He created great atmosphere and some tense moments. This sounds like a good choice. To be honest,u could tell me Micheal Jackson was directing this and it would be a step up from what we had.

Maybe its just me,but shouldnt u give the movie the greenlight, then talk to directors?

I don't care if it's Steve Miner or Patrick Lussier, they are both good directors. As long as Rob Zombie's not directing I'll be happy.

bleed - i'd rather they found a director who wanted to do it before putting it into production and hiring some hack who can meet a release date.

JGrayland,good point.

I don't care who directs it just as long as the story is a good one. I'd love it if they hired a younger director that could really make a name for himself/herself by bringing the suspense and horror back to the Halloween franchise.

No Rob Zombie? Count me in. Get Paul Anderson for all I care. Just keep Zombie away at all costs.

Personally, I'm just waiting to see if this movie will actually happen. We need official word that this has been greenlit before I get too excited.

Sweet! But, he should be working on MBV2. Not H3D.

i just cant seeing it working in 3d sounds like bad idea

Honest Question: Where would people who would want the series continue like to see the character of Michael Myers go? Aside from the "creative kills" what would be original and compelling enough to move the series foward? I am just curious.

I think the H3D should open up with the last 15 minute of H2 (car flipping to end). Then have Laurie wake up in a hospital all scared etc. Laurie then goes to a nurse asking her were michael is. The nurse responds "Honey, there was no one else found around the crash. Its a mircle you survived that, the paramedics told me the whole car was flipped over!" (H2's ending was just another dream). And the nurse so happens to be the one who Michael stabs repeatedly in the first 15 miuntes of H2. What do you guys think of that?

I just hope H3D ain't as cheesy as MBV3D..

personally, I'd prefer Aja but... as long as Rob Zombie has NOTHING to do with it, then I'm game. I wouldn't mind seeing another 3D horror film, mostly because FD3D was a bit lame on the whole 3D "FX". can't wait for Pirahna 3D! on a side note: I highly enjoyed MBV3D

@ thatdoomguy666, I dont think it's a terrible idea, but it is sort of weak. I mean, yeah the ending was bad, but it would just be another slap in the face. At the same time, I dont know how else they could bring Michael back. He was stabbed in the face at the end of H2, and I dont care how superhuman you are, you cant survive a good face-stab (plus a head shot, 4 other bodily stabs, two shots to the chest, and being pinned to thrasher).

As long as Michael doesn't grunt in the 3rd movie, I'm all for it! Mr. D could direct it & I'm all for it. I do know what Mr. D means when he sais there was just something about the movie he liked. I'm the biggest hater of RZ's first Halloween, absolutely hated it! But there's something I liked about 2. Besides the cheesy white horse bit.

I would be interested in one FINAL installment with Laurie as the killer though. If they could do it well, I'm all aboard. But I'll admit it (sue me), H2 has been growing on me. I wont say it was great, but it was something new. maybe if the continuity held up better (introducing the white horse into the first one; making Loomis not a prick; making Laurie likable)... you know, the basics of filmmaking.

My main reason for hating the first one so much is because of the backstory. IMO Michael is better left with no backstory....He's a blank slate, that's what makes him creepy is that your imagination is so much better than anything they can spell out for us.

Please: no more Halloweens, thanx.

Thatdoomguy666- I think your story idea would work but that just puts Michael back to killing endlessly. Is there anything left for Michael Myers to do to really reinvigorate the franchise? How do you keep him quasi-human if sequel after sequel, he continues to take damage that would kill a man? How do you continue a series that most people (even many that enjoyed the two latest incarnations)feel makes no single character sympathetic or likeable? Who is the audience supposed to care about? Even the most loyal Zombie fans would admit this series is on very shaky ground.

MBV was a good slasher. But I really want to know about who'll write it.

HorrorKing93

I THINK TODD FARMER SHOULD WRITE IT. HE'S THE GUY WHO WROTE MBV3D. THAT SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slasher Freak

Patrick Lussier was one of the directors that came to mind when they announced this suppose 3D sequel. He did a good job with MBV. But I rather see someone else direct like one of those french directors.
