The countdown to the World Premiere has begun, George A. Romero's Survival of the Dead will play the "Midnight Madness" portion of the Toronto International Film Festival this month, and now the first ever clip has made its way online. You can check out a fisherman's (un)lucky catch by reading on. The plot involves inhabitants of an isolated island off the North American coast who find their relatives rising from the dead to eat their kin. The leaders of the island feud over whether or not to kill their reanimated relatives or preserve them in hopes of finding a cure.

this looks like a comedy. that last Diary of the Dead, burned my eyes to death. I am skeptical about this, but I think Mr. Romero is losing his touch.

this looks absolutely terrible, i'll stick to my walking dead comics.

The score uses what's called a "Mickey-Mousing" technique. If not used properly it comes across as intrusive. To me it seems manipulative here and begs us to laugh. It's a somewhat funny scene but I'm not sure I like the score direction.

To quote the sea captain at the end..."WHAT WAS THAT?!?"

WOW...Horrible Score, horrible everything...What happened to the awesome creepy disturbing, amazing sounding and atmosphereic and seriousness that was Day of the Dead?...Instead this feels like a cheap lame made for TV horror comedy...George Romero has lost it! Still looking forward to it though ;p but i REALLY hate the score, just terrible He should seriously go back and look at DAY, and creat a new Dead film that immitates it regarding the 80's look, the zombies, the dialogue, the music ect ect

i actually like the music in this clip but it seems very amateurish. i think this might be a bad movie for Romero (but i HOPE not!).

Story for the next Romero flick: An undead director keeps making sequels to his once legendary franchise...instead of eating people, he´s after the Fans money. Title: Douchebag of the dead

Well I will admit that was pretty bad, but let us have faith in King George he has given us so much.

Wasn't blown away... but looks pretty cool! Not big on the score... but overall looks nice.

This was a horrible scene, it tried to force us to laugh at what was painful to even watch at the horrible sound and script. He needs to watch his own films of the past instead of trying to fit into current trend of comedy zombie films. Also take out the horrible dialogue and put back in the tone of Day and Dawn of the Dead films.

i started off pretty intrigued, and didnt think the score was too bad... but, damn that really wasnt funny. Wish someone would help george make a serious, huge sequal to the dead films. Land and Diary were both kind of letdowns for me.

I honestly think this movie will be great. Yeah, it won't live up to the big 3 but he defined the genre, give him a break!

I have a theory: George died several years ago and was replaced by an imposter.

You negative douchebags are giving me a headache!

SG_HORROR

I dunno how I feel about that. I mean, in context to a "CREEPSHOW" style film, that could make sense. But it seems a little out to line to release that as a first clip. We'll see..

Thanks... tszilla. I agree.
