Ti West Disowns 'Cabin Fever 2'

In a report from the Frightfest UK on /Film, The House of the Devil director Ti West talked a bit about his horrible experience in directing Cabin Fever 2, which has yet to be released by Lionsgate. "He explained that the Lionsgate recut of his Cabin Fever 2 is now complete and that he wishes to disown it," reports /Film. "According to him, his edit was like a John Waters or Todd Solondz film (yes, really) and featured heart wipes and star wipes (er…) and that the current version is much less esoteric and idiosyncratic." In the sequel, the killer virus comes out of the woods and has a date at the high school prom.

HAH i knew it would turn out shitty. Without Eli Roth this franchise doesn't look promising

This is terrible news. I'm not saying West's version of the film would've been great, with all those weird touches and all, but I believe that studios should give directors almost complete freedom on films. Even work-for-hire directors should have a high amount of input. Lionsgate is going to piss off a bunch of people with this. I just hope they don't butcher Kick-Ass.

Maybe it was a good idea to recut the film. Those wipes sound ultra lame. We won't find out for sure until it is released.

A sequel really wasn't needed anyway

I still don't see what everyone thought was so great about West's "The Roost." After seeing that film, I would never care to see him direct another movie as long as he lived.

This is ludacris! Ti West I know lionsgate screwed you but hey Its the Job you signed on to do. I just blamed Lionsgate for the numerous delays and false release dates. Just release it! We've been waiting about 7 years!

I would have been very interested to see West's version of Cabin Fever 2 (huge Todd Solondz fan). I mean, it was such an unnecessary sequel to begin with you might as well be a little experimental with it. Otherwise it's just COMPLETELY pointless

That sucks the first one i thought was good.

Rambo - word on The Roost. I think I was like the only critic who didnt wipe that babys ass and say WTF is all the hype about? Shooter was a good film though. And House was dark and awesome. I think West is a better director than whe he did Roost.

Wow, this film just sounds horrible. The first one was quite shitty, so I don't expect too much of this in the first place, but when a director trashes his own film before it's even released mind you, that can't be a good thing. I'd be floored if this doesn't go strait to DVD. Actually, it sounds like it would be better suited for a Sci-Fi channel original movie. What a shame.

I have to agree with Rambo Lunchbox on this one...The Roost was a pointless mess of a film, and knowing he directed this makes me cringe. It wasn't scary or disturbing, nor did it make any sense. Not saying Roth is the greatest either (Hostel blew), but at least his stuff CAN BE entertaining.

What's going on with Lionsgate? They used to be such a great champion of horror. I could seriously barely sit through the last Saw. It was so boring it practically put me to sleep. And don't get me started on The Spirit.

ye 2002-2006 lionsgate was an artistically inclined studio. now there like every other major studio...its all about the benjamins. Hostel part 2 ruined them, if it had done well they would still be great.

Well, I love love love Todd Solondz, Liked Cabin Fever a lot, and I enjoy everything I've seen from Ti West.. So, I'm supremely bummed. I'll wait 10 years till he releases his "creative vision" You tool ass weirdo fucks who keep harping on people for their opinions really need to find some sort of high school horror site to go hangout on or something where respect is a thing of the past. Smoke some fuckin' weed, chill out and accept that not everyone has the same taste.

Why the fuck would Lionsgate cut this movie up?! It can't be that bad, it's not like whatever's in it, it isn't what we've already seen. I hope they show the many deleted cut scenes on the dvd. I think Ti shouldn't disown it, he should keep the scenes that were cut, can he?
