It's finally happening! Beyond the break you'll find the first ever image from Ning Hao's The Host 2, the sequel to Bong Joon-Ho's Korean monster movie that received much praise here in the States. The sequel will have to tread carefully to avoid criticizing the Chinese government as the story will concern a calamity caused when people ignore a monster due to their desire for money.

this movie is a true monster movie, the only thing different about it is that it looks better than those from the old days my friend.

Sorry to go against almost everyone who has posted so far, but this image looks terrible and does not make the film look promising. I know it is just one still of the creature running, but it is obvious it is CG. I know it is impossible to make CG stuff look completely realistic (no matter how much James Cameron believes he can) but filmmakers can integrate CG against real footage better than this. Hell, I believed the Transformers were real more than I do this. The Host is good on its own anyway, why make a sequel. The same goes for The Descent.

This looks to me like a cheaper, poorly-textured version of the original. Could look better in motion, though.

It looks awesome, i mean its a moving render. Just wait til you see it in actual context to what is going on. Im hyped for this. Lets hope the monster eats more people in this one.

The CG looks really cheap here. I mean, I know China isn't exactly known for having insane over the top CGI infested action movies like in the states (Revenge of the Fallen) but this looks like direct to DVD ugly. Maybe it'll look better in the actual movie. Either way, I'll still see this. Loved the first one.

ye the cg looks like shit but I loved the host & I assume that this doesnt look great because it is a freeze frame...In motion I expect beter things.

Skratchy- Korea not China First one was good.Pictures of CG in motion never look as good as it does when it is moving. Looking forward to this.

I can't wait for this. The first was one of the best giant monster movies I've seen in years.Brilliant plot with a suprising punt in the nuts ending. The cg was good in the first film for the budget.Besides Godzilla is the only rubbersuit monsters that we need in this genre.

It sort of reminds me of the parasites from Cloverfield.

I loved the first one, but i am upset to say that this pic looks like shit. The CG is very obvious when compared to the background, looks as bad as Lake Placid 2. I hope it turn out as good as the first (i doubt it)

The CGI in the first film was done by Peter Jackson's effects company, WETA...I haven't heard if this one is as well. If not, then it may have a lower quality as most asian effects companies aren't as experienced. But before we go comparing it to movies like Transformers or what not, let's remember the budget differences!

Nobody seems to realize that the CGI in the first movie wasn't all that great... I can't see the difference from just this one picture.

The CGI in the first movie was done by the US company The Orphanage and not WETA! This time some korean company seems to be doing the effects though. I still wouldn't consider this picture final though. Let's wait for more images or even a trailer.

WETA did the design and maquette work. Orphanage did the actual CG.
