Website Reel Hawaii reports that 20th Century Fox's Predator reboot/prequel Predators is looking to do a little shooting in the jungles of Hawaii. "Scouts for 20th Century Fox’s $40-million creature feature are back on the Big Island for their third week of scouting Hawaii most of it where a lot of jungles have been looked at. The production would film for 18 days with an October start if the Hawaii portion is a go. That decision is expected to be made very soon…Some Hawaii production execs are being contacted about availability…" The creature feature is directed by Nimród Antal (Vacancy) and begins filming September 28th at producer Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin TX. In this version, a group of humans will find themselves stranded on a planet home to Predators and must survive the horrors they encounter.

So the Predator homeworld looks like an Earth jungle, Or there's just an Earth jungle scene. I'm glad there's a jungle at least.

BD, can you tell me how exactly this is a prequel to the first Predator if it's set on ANOTHER FUCKING PLANET!? It's a reboot along the lines of "Rambo". Seriously, this is the shit that sends out misinformation to everyone...

I'm guessing that's a typo, I clearly don't see how this can be a prequel.

I just now noticed the music in the original PREDATOR trailer was the main title music from ALIENS. But no... I don't like this new idea.

um...how else do you think its a prequel. its showing the predators before they crashed on earth in the first one...

Well I'm glad that they're at least going to use a jungle, that's where the predators belong, and provides the perfect environment for them to hunt. Also, this isn't a prequel, it's a sequel/reboot. I read some of Rodriguez's original script, and they were originally gonna bring back Dutch from the first film. Guess they had to scrap that idea since Schwarzenegger is too old to do that kind of role, and probably wasn't interested anyway. But anyways, the original script involved Dutch and a bunch of other military people being kidnapped, and taken to the predator planet to fight in arena's like gladiators, and the plot revolved around them trying to escape the planet, while along the way discovering that they had actually been abducted, and handed over to the predators by other humans(the agency from "Predator 2") who were working with the predators in exchange for their technology. So expect the plot of this film to loosely follow that, thus making it a sequel of sorts.

Could be pretty cool. Although I'd rather see a sequel than prequel and forget that AVP ever happened. HEY LOOK They start shooting the day after my birthday. COOL.

@makkmilli01 Firstly, the first film was not the first time the predators had landed on earth. Go back and watch Pred 2 to figure that out. Secondly, it would be hard to do a prequel given the limits on our space travel pre-1987. I guess it is possible astronauts orbiting earth somehow got sucked onto their planet but seems a bit of a push.

This actually sounds really good to me. Im just happy that we'll get to see a bit of the predator homeland even if it is more of an Earthy jungle. Should be pretty interesting.

I would have rather have seen a future picture with the Predators. Possibly have some space marines fighting them. Our tech versus their tech. I am pleased with it being on the Predator homeworld, but I'm tired of the modern timeframe. It's a shame we never got a good futuristic AVP film for that reason. They should have delivered the space marines that everyone wanted the AVP films to be.

I'm gonna have to agree with Moritimur Grimm. All fans want to see is how a squad of Colonial Marines would deal with "Predator".

It will great to see a movie based on their planet rather than having a junkyard full of spaceships for everytime one crashes. It should be a good movie as long as the CGI don't over take.

Off topic but iffox ever wishes to re kindle the Aliens franchise- fuck the dumbshit, concentrate on the timeframe of Aliens. Delve deeper into that universe, go into more detail with the Colonial Marines, new characters etc. Get James Cameron on board. PS This new predator is going to suck Jason Voorhees Penis

i do have my reservations about the whole concept for the new movie but i with rodriguez behind production i think it could be pretty cool. the fact that he called it "Predators" is a salute to what James Cameron did for the Alien franchise. So i think with that menatlity, he wouldn't be taking on a project that would in anyway jepordize or negatively effect the Predator concept. My own idea for the original aliens vs. predator was if it was set on some sort of planet with a redish sun, where the predators were trying to recolonise and were in a huge battle with the aliens who inhabited the planet, orginally home to the same race as massive skeleton on the ship in the first alien. Imagine an open plane with a massive stampede of aliens with predators charging towards them. and it would have very little dialogue, jsut some subtitles, NO FUCKING HUMANS! AWESOME!!! that's all, the end.

Can't wait for this, Predator is one of my all time favourites, hopefully Rodriguez will exterminate the blasphemy that was the AvP's, and take Predator back!
