Short news piece as legendary producer Joel Silver reveals to Collider that he'd like to produce a 3D remake of Swamp Thing. "I’m developing a picture now that I’d like to do…I’ll hopefully do Swamp Thing, which is a movie we’ve had for a long time. We think that would be great to do in 3D. There are a couple of projects I’m thinking about (for the format) but not everything.” This is a project they've had in development for FIVE years now, but hopefully we'll see some progress soon. The story begins when a toxic chemical transforms a research scientist into a monstrous mass of vegetation.

Sorry for my ignorance ? What is the difference between MAN THING and SWAMP THING ? Am I correct ? Wasn't there 2 swamp creature comics ? And wasn't Heather Locklear in one of them ?

Both Swamp Thing films were shit but fun to watch in a way so a new one done not for kids but for mature audiences would be a nice return.

Man-thing = Marvel. Swamp Thing = DC. Man-Thing was pretty much this mindless shambling mass of plants and weeds that was empathic, so it would be drawn to people emitting strong emotions, usually fear or something. Swamp Thing was a scientist who was working on regeneration via plants - a lab explosion covered him in muck, he ran out into the swamp and bonded with the plants. Better artwork via Bernie Wrightson with writing by Len Wein, later by Alan Moore and a group of talented artists. Check out "Saga of the Swamp Thing" by Moore, now released (finally) as a series of graphic novels. And as for the movie....silver? 3D? Me = not in the theater.

I'm hating this whole 3D phase. Anyways, I don't care about the original. I dont even remember if I liked it. So, bring it!

Considering that they re-released the original SWAMP THING w/ Adrienne Barbeau's classic "waterfall shower" scene edited, censored, and mutilated (all because some little old lady complained), I have little hope in any remake...

Alan Moores SWAMP THING-Comics are awesome (and his best Work besides WATCHMEN in my Opinion) - i just never really liked the Movies! I would love to see a new SWAMP THING-Movie done RIGHT!!!

The first Swamp Thing IS a classic, but it's vastly different from the source material...mostly due to the small budget it had. With proper effects and a good use of budget, a new version could be awesome.

3d really is just a gimmick to get people to watch unoriginal crap

YES! Finally a 3D remake I actually WANT to see. Craven destroyed the first outing and I liked the second from a purely so-bad-its-good angle. Hopefully this one will retain the dark and gritty feel the comic books had. Hopefully.

While the 3D thing would be fun, I guess its more important to do a good story, much like the tv show. By the way, I'm just trying to spread the word as much as possible Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 sucks. Don't go see it and tell your friends.

They shouldn't really consider dis another remake since its based on a comic book, so its more like another adaption.

Hmm, lot's of hate for the 3D remake plans here, but I think this movie is perfect for it. First, the original was only so-so to begin with, so it's not like the remake is tainting a classic. Second, this kind of campy, silly, creature-feature is what 3D was MADE for. I can't think of many better choices for a 3D movie.
