BD Review: 'The Final Destination' an Explosive Good Time

This early am we've added our official review of New Line Cinema's 3-D sequel The Final Destination, which is now in theaters everywhere. "If not for the sameness of it all, The Final Destination would be the best in the series. In a way, it’s almost charming how strictly it sticks to the established formula, but at the same time, the template is seriously showing strain....But while it might be the same, it’s still a hell of a lot of fun." Click the title above for the full review and don't forget to write your own review of the film to tell all of BD what YOU thought.

I FUCKING HATE BC'S MOVIE REVIEWS. Not because he liked The Final Destination, I'm pretty excited about the movie, seeing it tomorrow.. but the guy ALWAYS FUCKIGN USES SO MANY SPOILERS IN HIS FUCKING REVIEW WITH NO WARNING!! IT PISSES THE FUCK OUT OF ME, PLEASE BLOODY-DISGUSTING, STOP LETTING THIS MORON'S REVIEWS ON YOUR WEBSITE. IT'S SO FRUSTRATING.

So i guess MrD got paid more to like this "film", than he did for Halloween 2.

i just don't get people liking this. i LOVE the first 3 movies, but this was pure shit. people were all set to shit on halloween, so i can't take anyone seriously that says FD was better

Rotten Tomatoes counted your "positive" review of Halloween II and won't include your review of The Final Destination. I think they're trying to keep TFD's rating down.

The ending is a repeat of FD3's ending minus Tony Todd

It was OK. Underwhelming? Yes. But it was fun, had some OK deaths(didnt like the fact that a few were kinda off screen, which is WEIRD AS HELL to see in a FD movie) and some were just all around not creative. Again, fun time at the movies but nothing spectacular. The first main disaster premonition was horribly put together, though the opening credits were awesome!! Same with the musical score.

Here's my problem with where the Final Destination franchise stands today from 3 onward. I was a big fan of the first one. It set the precedent for the rest to follow and was really well done and had a great cast. What I liked about the sequel was that it actually followed up on the first one and felt like a real sequel instead of just in name only. I get the fact that Sawa was written out becuase of how much money he wanted to return but Ali still came back to reprise her roll and I liked the fact that Tony Todd was potrayed as Bludworth the mortician, the physical potrayel of death. He is good in everything that he's in and his roll as their stalkers was no different. I also liked the fact that they gave death some sort of physical appearance in the form of a black cloud looming over the scene of doom. I was hoping that they would keep evolving the story with bludworth as death and relate each new incident to it's predececcors but instead from 3 on, it has merely just become a sequel in name only choosing to drop the bludworth character and not explain that anymore and is pretty much just turned into a disastor flick now. I miss the story the first 2 actually were trying to tell.

I voted for FD over H2 but H2 was a lot cooler. This film was just too fast paced with boring deaths. The only thing I liked about this movie was the mall scene. I really liked part 3 considering I'm a huge rollercoaster fan and it also had cooler deaths and better acting. The acting by Nick Zano is absolutely terrible. He's just as bad as Justin Timberlake. I'm disappointed because I thought this would have the same tone as FD1 and FD3 but it was somewhat comical like part 2. I give it 6/10

hey horror_luva, if you don't like bc's reviews then DON"T fucking read them. simple you know like oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh......... .............. let me see, what's it called? oh yeah FREEDOM OF CHOICE! your choice is don't...... read it! but i still respect your opinion. look, his website does say that in a review there will be spoilers, but that same review on this site, doesn't say that, so you do have a legitimate gripe! but please refrain from name calling! that is wrong!!!!!!!

Horror_Luva - I am a bit confused. Not only does my review NOT spoil anything about the film beyond saying that "a woman dies" (which is about as much of a spoiler as saying "Bruce Willis shoots a guy" in a Die Hard review), but IT'S A FINAL DESTINATION MOVIE! I'm sorry if you have somehow missed all of the others, but (SPOILER!!!) people die in them, and they all play out exactly the same way. So I really have no idea what you're so mad about.

JGrayland

And I love how many comments claim Mr D got paid to love the movie or whatever, when he didn't even write the review. I did. And believe me, I don't get a cent for doing this.

Horror_Luva
10:09am, August 29, 2009

OH, I AM SO SORRY! I GUESS THIS ISN'T A SPOILER!?!? "For example, one woman is simply killed when a lawnmower hits a rock, which flies into (and back out of) her head."

I wonder if The Sadist was masturbating while he wrote that...?

JGrayland
12:29pm, August 29, 2009

That is in the trailer, so no, sorry, not a spoiler.

Horror_Luva
12:48pm, August 29, 2009

Yes, it's a spoiler. It's in the trailer, pretty cut up so it's not completely obvious that that was the way the woman was going to die. If they edited all the deaths in the trailer, then well, fuck whoever made that trailer. But anyway, I'm not going to argue about what is and isn't a spoiler, this is the second or third review of yours that I read with spoilers so I learned my lesson.

JGrayland

OK. Take care.
