Bloody Disgusting has learned that Matt Venne (White Noise 2: The Light, "Fear Itself", "Masters of Horror") has currently completed a screenplay for Mirrors 2, a sequel to 20th Century Fox's film from director Alex Aja. No word yet on the plot, but the first film was a remake of the Korean pic Into the Mirror and followed Kiefer Sutherland as a security guard at a high-end department store who begins to investigate mysterious deaths occurring in front of the stores' mirrors. He soon discovers that there are murderous reflections out for revenge.
I loved Alex Aja but the first was terrible and boring. I'm sure this will be a Direct-to-DVD sequel. The first did decent, but not enough for them to bother releasing this theatrically. It will just be a cash-in sequel. Sometimes those can be good though. Not all Direct-to-DVD sequels are junk. I doubt I'll watch this one though.
I love the first one and I would like to see a sequel, but if it goes straight to DVD that worries me. That doesn't automatically mean it will be bad, but it could be.
I didn't know this even did good at the box office. I love Alexandre Aja but I didn't enjoy this one when I saw it last year in theaters...I barely remember it b/c I fell to sleep. lol
I didnt know much about it going in, so the first was really interesting to me (I agree though... interesting until the ending). However, I do NOT support a sequel.
yeah, i fucking LOVE Aja but i really didn't like MIRRORS very much at all. the couple scenes of gore were spot on awesome but it was just a bore. PIRANHA 3D will RULE!!
The first half of Mirrors was great....the second half reverted to the typical "explain everything even if its not effective" Hollywood ending. I don't see a sequel being worth the effort.
Werd5150 : Agreed! The bathtub scene was amazing! Other than that, the first half was alright, but then got dumb. Alex Aja let us down on "Mirrors" in my opinion, I'm excited for "Piranha 3", though!!!!
The ending to Mirrors is a wonderful "twilight zone"-ish ending and I wouldnt have changed that for anything.
Mirrors part 2 Ive always thought would be a cool idea but depends on the storyline.
And i would like to say that I see the guy that wrote mirrors 2 also wrote White Noise 2 the light, well thats pretty sweet because i think white noise 2 the light is a very underated movie and stomps all over the original white noise.
A sequel is out of the question, the first was a mildly entertaining film so what could possibily over come this. I feel Hollywood doesn't know how to make a Movie to its fullest without degrading it with sequel after sequel. Im sure most people can agree with me here.
Aja is awesome but oh my what a disappointment with the first Mirrors. White Noise 2?...I'm sure this is gonna suck just as hard.
