Zombie achieves a good grainy 70's look to his films which is great for Halloween but his scripts are horrible and he always uses the same regurgitated characters! BLAH!

I think RZ explains himself and motives pretty well here. I know if you hate/dislike his vision this is just more material to bash, but again, he was given the keys to this franchise and he's doing it by the stamp he knows and enjoys. Right or wrong, good or bad, it's his deal and that's why I can just sit back and watch and make my own opinion. If he was doing a shot for shot remake of Carpenter's then it's really open to alot more critique. This story is so different, only the names are the same. I'll never get the argument "He Ruined Carpenter's Masterpiece". HOW ? It's so different ? Why doesn't anyone say how all the remakes over the years have RUINED Mary Shelley's Frankenstien or Bram Stoker's Dracula ? Those classics have been remade to death still to this day. Some decent and some really shitty ones. Why is Carpenter above it all ?

Also, can anyone tell me why Michael looks like a hobo version of Santa? And why the white witch from Narnia is in the film? Didn't no this was a Halloween/Narnia crossover.

Awesome! I loved the sequel talk about how every movie ends, somebody thinks that it was left open for a sequel. lol. So true.

so he thinks the last movie conformed too much to the original formula?...clearly he pays attention to all the wrong elements when he watches a movie, because he preserved the less important elements and betrayed the primary things that define halloween. oh well, at least my expectations for this are low...it's always better that way.

Severn

He wishes he had the chance to do the TCM remake (even though he bashed the remake of it at the time and remakes in general). He's just not the right guy to do something like Halloween.

ELIMANNING
10:27am, August 27, 2009

How can you expectations be low? His first movie was very good, and this looks intense and very interesting.. I cant wait

"so he thinks the last movie conformed too much to the original formula?" -- He's a funny guy, isn't he? I guess he took another look at his remake and decided that the sequel needed more Gandalf.

Awesome! He looks like a man that lives in my building. From the hair to the beard, and even sunglasses.

"He looks like a man that lives in my building." -- There's only one way to find out: Kill him and wait to see if Rob Zombie goes on to direct any more films.

so...are critics not allowed to review the movie? Cuz it comes out tomorrow and I haven't seen a single review other than a user review on some other site but I didn't agree with much of what he was saying (when he talked about other movies).

babagloom
6:55pm, August 27, 2009

So, since this is a return to his Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses feel, both of which I hated, I'm thinking this sequel is gonna blow, compared to the last Halloween which I enjoyed? Yay

For EVERYONE'S enjoyment...from the Audio/Video Revolution Review... (http://www.avrev.com/theatrical-movie-reviews/theatric al/halloween-ii-2009.html) "Well, turns out I was wrong. I'm guessing someone behind the scenes made Zombie play it safe the first time around, because now, with Halloween II, the reins are firmly in Zombie's hands, and he drives the series right off a cliff. Before I continue with a plot synopsis, I won't leave you guessing: I hated this stupid, pointless, insultingly bad movie. And you will, too. You really don't need to read any more than that..." "Zombie manages to betray the essence of EVERY character...turning Laurie into a petulant schizophrenic and Samuel Loomis (a completely wasted Malcolm McDowell) into a money-grubbing asshole, willing to do anything for a buck. I guess Zombie got inspired by the latter Halloween sequels, where Michael is being controlled by an evil cult, because that's how silly and utterly obnoxious this movie is. No, it's worse. It's the worst film to ever bear the Halloween name, and when you've got a movie in your series where Michael Myers kung fu fights Busta Rhymes, that's saying something."
