Simon Pegg (Star Trek, Shaun of the Dead) is set to topline John Landis' (American Werewolf in London, Twilight Zone: The Movie, "Thriller") latest horror opus, Burke and Hare, which is lensing in London later this summer, reports Dread Central. Based on a true story, Burke And Hare is about two 19th century graverobbers who find a lucrative business providing cadavers for an Edinburgh medical school. Here's the tagline we just got our hands on: "No job too small, no body too big, no questions asked."
Love Simon Pegg! Love John Landis! Love the true-story, source material! Check out the old b+w version: FLESH AND THE FIENDS w/ Peter Cushing, Donald Pleasance, and Billie whitelaw (The Omen). It's awesome!...
The whole graverobbing thing doesn't really interest me... unless they re-animate the corpse of course. I wonder if Herbert West is a student at Edinburgh medical school.
Romero solidly does NOT have "it" anymore. If some one had told me that Paul W.S. Anderson had directed "Diary of the Dead" I would have thought it strange cause even his movies feature better acting than what was passed off in that movie.
That's pretty nifty! There hasn't been a Burke And Hare based film in a while. I think the best one to ever come out so far is The Flesh And The Fiends with Peter Cushing. That might be hard to beat.
I sure hope Landis gets back to making good movies again. Been a long time since his last decent one. His "Family" episdoe of "Masters Of Horror" was good, but before that the last thing I liked from him was "Innocent Blood".
Cronenberg is still a great director, but I think what they meant was, if he still has the whole "horror" thing down. Cronenberg seemingly don't want to do horror anymore(he's mainly in the drama genre now).
Well, I Sell the Dead involves zombies so I don't think you can call ripoff just yet. Also, I don't think John Landis would have any say in greenlighting an American Werewolf remake. The rights holder makes that decision, which is usually never the director.
