It's Bloody Disgusting News Bites time again as we've got a truck load of delicious morsels of information from a bunch of forthcoming horror features. Beyond the break you'll find the new one sheet for Dorian Gray, read about how the top French filmmakers are saying "f*ck you" to Hollywood, check out Lindsay Lohan on the set of Machete, see some casting news on Predators and even enjoy a little tease for Bubba Nosferatu (please happen already). Read on for all the goodness stirred into one monster story and check back to see if there are any new updated at day's end.

THE FRENCH SAY "F*CK YOU HELLYWOOD

My boy Travis just pointed me to this very interesting article where some big French filmmakers have spoken out against Hollywood - and take a stab at the Elm Sreet reboot whle they're at it. Here's a tatse.

"I can only talk for myself, but Hollywood is not much of an attraction for me," Mr. Du Welz (the director Calvaire and Vinyan) says. "I know I wouldn't be happy on a film set having two line producers prodding me like on a commercial."

"Directors like myself, Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, and Pascal Laugier have all been getting sent the same scripts, it's not like Hollywood is interested in us as individual talents," he adds.

Mr. Bustillo (co-director of Inside) is in total agreement: "We [Julien Maury and I] have an American agent who couldn't understand how we could turn down directing a remake of 'A Nightmare on Elm Street.' He felt we were going to earn a lot of money and make a big hit -- why refuse? But for us, the screenplay wasn't any good, and we weren't going to be able to rewrite it. We're not interested in cheating, we want to make films we can be proud of."

PREDATORS SHOOTS THIS SEPTEMBER

Robert Rodrigiez's Troublemaker Studios is working fast as they plan on shooting Predators, their reboot of Predator on September 28th in Austin, Texas, where they are currently lensing Machete. Being helmed by Nimrod Antal (Vacancy, Bloody Disgusting has learned exclusively that they are currently seeking a "Black", "Asian", "Russian" and "Latino" marine. Got to have some flavor in this "prequel".

In this version, a group of humans will find themselves stranded on a planet home to Predators and must survive the horrors they encounter. James Cameron pulled a similar move with his advancement of the "Alien" franchise in his "Aliens."

LINDSAY LOHAN, GROSS

Speaking of Robert Rodriguez, below you'll find some behind-the-scenes shots of Lindsay Lohan in Machete, which is shooting now in Austin, Texas under the direction of Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis.

Machete is a Mexican ex-Federale with a gift for wielding a blade, who hides out as a day laborer, who is double-crossed by a corrupt state senator. Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Robert De Niro, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagal, Cheech Marin, Don Johnsonand Jeff Fahey all star.

This is the first time D-BOX's immersive technology will be combined with 3-D technology, offering moviegoers the opportunity to enjoy an unparalleled cinematic experience where they can watch the action in three dimensions and live the extraordinary sensations of onscreen action. Thriller sequel The Final Destination is the first 3-D movie to feature D-BOX Motion technology and is the first movie with New Line Cinema to be incorporating D-BOX Motion Code(TM).

A SHATTERED LOOK AT DORIAN GRAY

A new one sheet was revealed for Oliver Parker's (one of the many) film version of Dorian Gray, whic is a step up from the horrid promo art floating around the web. The adaptation tells the story of the titular Dorian (Prince Caspian's Ben Barnes), a privileged and beautiful young man in Victorian England who wishes, as he gazes at his latest portrait, that the picture could age instead of him. Lo and behold, it does - but as Dorian becomes older and more corrupt, the portrait in the attic becomes a monster.

SCRIMM JOINS THE NOSFERATU?

Fangoria reports that Don Coscarelli is finally looking to get Bubba Nosferatu, the sequel to Bubba Ho-tep off the ground.

"Well, I have this window that’s about to open,” actor Ron Perlman, who will be replacing Bruce Campbell as Elvis revealed. “I’ll be done shooting [his cable series] SONS OF ANARCHY in September, and we’re hoping to get into production on BUBBA in my hiatus between seasons two and three. I just spoke to [actor] Paul Giamatti [set to play Elvis’ manager, Colonel Tom Parker] and Don Coscarelli this morning, and we’re just moving the ball down the field, trying to get her done.

They add that Perlman will likely reteam with his I SELL THE DEAD co-star Angus Scrimm...Scrimm is being recruited to play a Boris Karloff-like horror star who Elvis meets up with (pre-HO-TEP) in Los Vegas on the set of a vampire movie.

Ha! Those blurbs from Du Welz and Bustillo are priceless. Must say, the few recent French horror films I've seen(Inside, Martyrs, Calvaire) because of all the hype from horror sites have been every bit a great as the reviews I've read for them. Can't say I've been as disappointed with these films as I have been most of these tired old American products that are usually nothing more than glossy rehashes of older horror films or macho rah-rah fantasies based on "groundbreaking graphic novels." Grow up!

You see what did i tell you, i knew the elm street movie is going to suck and now we have even more proof that it's going to suck major dick. But as far as predators and machete goes i can't wait to see those two movies. Oh and bubba ho-tep 2 as well!

I'm glad to see some people with talent talking about the Nightmare remake. Did anyone notice how he said that he wouldn't have been able to re-write the script? That means that they were trying to hire them on as directors for hire, and were not going to give them any creative control in the film. This is how Platinum Douche operates. They totally cut the balls out of the story so it could fit into their little business model they've created over the past few years. They hired a newbie video director to helm the project because they know they can push him around. There's a formula to how they operate, and to be honest, it HAS worked for them. I'll tell you what. These films are front loaded. The financial success of the film is gauged by it's opening weekend numbers. Let's all stay home and send them a message.

i totally agree with what the French directors are saying. and what the heck is up with Lindsay's "outfit"? is that for a nude scene or something? and i hate to sound like a hater (i don't hate Lindsay or anything) but she looks around 40 years old and not the 20 something she is.

and OMFG!! look at Lindsay's feet in those pix!! they look fake or like they are size 12!!! that is hilarious.

I'm with you i am the egg man we should all just stay home, let that piece of shit of an elm street remake fail at the box office and let it fail hard. Maybe then platinum douche will stop being a bunch of money grubbing assholes and start giving us some real original horror movies. But the chances of that happening are slim to none!

Ah, cool to hear that Bubba Nosferatu might happen. As much as I like Ron Pearlman, it's a shame that Bruce Campbell won't reprise his role, though.

I agree that Phantasm 5 would be awesome. I'd rather see that than Bubba 2. I just hope Don gets a chance to make it before Angus Scrimm dies.

bahah as much as I HATE Hohan, I think she's perfect for a movie like this! She looks like a burnt out druggie from the '70s.. like half the actresses in those movies from the '70s! As much of a pain in the ass that she's gonna be on set, I think that this is the perfect fit for her.. hope it's her last role tho! :)

so sad laugier left hellraiser but also glad that both he and also bustillo and maury had the artistic integrity to say no to selling out.

If I won the lottery, the first thing I would do is call up Don Coscarelli and offer to finance Phantasm 5. That movie REALLY needs to be made. But, Bubba Nosferatu is good news, too. Don Coscarelli brings a unique quality of fun and surrealism to his movies that I just love. There really isn't anything ele similar out there.

Just to swerve off in a totally different direction here but God, that Dorian Gray poster is awful.

I am glad the French have noticed the same problems with Hollywood that I have noticed for years. Kudos to them for standing up to those poseurs and telling them to shove it. :)

magnoliafreak6

BloodyCape...LOL! They should film that scene and have the bartender say "What is this, some kind of joke."

Go the Frenchmen!! Glad they are sticking it to the money machine that is Hollywood and that they can spot a shitty script and actually give a damn about making it good but they know they would never be allowed to touch it. Excited about Predators and Machete but not so much about Bubba 2, the first one was bad enough.

jkrouskop

Gee whiz and amen, fellas. They're French AND they've made a few good movies between them. That means they must be absolutely right about everything they say, and their opinion of an early draft of a script (which they would have had the opportunity to rewrite had they taken the job, regardless of what they say) is an ironclad guarantee that the movie in question will suck! Baaaaah! Baaaah! Don't be sheep, people, seriously. If these French dudes were half the "visionary filmmakers" they claim to be, A)someone outside of the twenty-five or so people who regularly comment on these news items would have actually heard of them, and B)they would accept AND complete the Hollywood jobs they're offered, and they would use their skill as directors to steer the projects so that the end results were worth a shit. Snobbery and the tired old "They wouldn't let me make it MY WAY!" excuse are not hallmarks of great artists or filmmakers; they're traits of cowardly egotists and talentless wannabes who lack the stones to survive in Hollywood, where truly gifted and determined filmmakers beat the system rather than whining about it. Screw these douchebag auteurs and their overrated, largely derivative Euro-crap. Some of the greatest filmmakers of all time have made great movies in the same Hollywood that these posing, pretentious primadonnas claim is incapable of producing quality motion pictures. This kind of sniveling horseshit is every bit as much a part of the problem with the movie industry today as the idiot accountants and focus groups that these guys are blaming for the overabundance of garbage being produced.
