It looks like things are moving along with the MGM remake of Poltergeist as the studio has slated the film for release on November 24, 2010, Thanksgiving weekend. Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) is attached the direct the reboot that tells the story of a suburban home built over an Indian burial ground and thus inhabited by a nasty spook. Juliet Snowden and Stiles White penned the modern version of Tobe Hooper's '82 classic, which was produced by Steven Spielberg.

Enough with the raping of these classics. A CGI clown has NOTHING on the original and I can't wait to be unimpressed.

how on earth could this be any better than the original? very unnecessary. the original was perfection.

The original is one of my favorite horror films of all time. As a remake I would gladly accept an R rated brutal version of the story, something fresh and different...but it will probably be the obvious pg-13 unscary bs we have come to expect from remakes these days.

I don't think you can get much better than Speilberg in his prime. His script was awesome. It kept the family unit as being normal, yet didn't stray outside of this to tap into the mainstream pop culture. This one, from what I've heard, now has hot young parents and a young psychic investigator goth chick instead of Tangina.

IT could be done fairly well. But they better not royally screw up. It really should get at least a PG-13 at the most a hardcore R.

If you don't want to see a remake JUST DON'T WATCH IT! Don't rent it, don't download it, just pretend it doesn't exist. As long as there is a market for them, there will be remakes, and right now the market is ripe for 70's and 80's do-overs. Vote with your wallets about what you'd like to see more of. Of course, the 13- 16 year old sheep these movies are aimed at don't know the originals so they see an interesting concept and... the cycle of remakes repeats itself. Get used to them, they aren't going away.

Perelman is a fine director but this still needs to die. If anything do it out of respect for Heather O'Rourke, don't sully the memory of her performance by recasting her with some obnoxious moppet. But hey, what's the point in begging on sentimental grounds? It's not like anyone involved in the sequels or shit TV series for The Crow showed any respect for the memory of Brandon Lee.

Im interested to see what they do with it.

I bet Michael 'Explosions Go Boom' Bay will have his hands in this. I have a bad feeling this will entail really bad CGI. But I am curious as to who will be casted as the medium. She was so darn right creepy herself and her voice? Yikes.

I can understand remaking a movie that needs work, bad script, shitty acting, crap SFX but the original is perfection so why mess with that ?

You guys need to stop pretending that this, or 99% of the other movies get made for the sake of quality or art. They're making this because everybody is still paying to see fucking remakes. It's YOU.

Fuck this shit... now we've another reason to feel depressed on Thanksgiving.

Can't they make an original haunted house movie? Jeeesus!

this movie definitely won't be as good as the original. They gave a script review and it just looks o.k. not very good. What really sucks is that they took out cetain scenes that made the original good. Example is the tree scene. There won't be one at all. Which sucks on so many levels. Because i thought it should have been included..
