Scary Madison Productions, a new division of the wildly successful Happy Madison Productions, has joined forces with Anchor Bay Entertainment, the undisputed leader in cult and horror titles, to bring you The Shortcut (trailer), a terrifying tale of teenage terror, making its DVD debut on September 29, 2009.
Rated a family-friendly PG-13, The Shortcut includes such hot, up-and-coming young talent as Emmy Award® nominee Drew Seeley (Another Cinderella Story, High School Musical: The Concert, Disney’s The Little Mermaid on Broadway), Shannon Woodward (The Haunting of Molly Hartley, “The Riches”), Josh Emerson (I Love You, Beth Cooper), Katrina Bowden (Sex Drive, the Emmy Award®-winning “30 Rock”), Dave Franco (“Greek,” “Privileged,” brother of Golden Globe Award® winner James Franco) and Nicholas Elia (Speed Racer, White Noise, “Masters of Horror: ‘Sounds Like’”), alongside such popular veterans as Raymond J. Barry (the Academy Award®-winning Born on the Fourth of July, Training Day and Dead Man Walking) and Screen Actors Guild Award® nominee William B. Davis (the eponymous Cigarette-Smoking Man from “The X-Files”).
A shortcut through the woods saved a lot of time getting to school, but no kid growing up in a suburban neighborhood dared to take it. The trail ran within sight of a scary house with an eerie old man who would accost its travelers with an ominous warning: Stay away! Now, decades later a group of teens are determined to find out the truth about the old man – and his dark secrets – when they learn that the urban legend may be all too real.
But when they uncover the truth, will they wish they hadn’t? And will they survive to tell the tale? When it comes to terror, take The Shortcut. Just be sure to expect a few sleepless nights afterward!
The Shortcut is directed by Nicholaus Goossen (Grandma’s Boy) and written by Dan Hannon & Scott Sandler.
